Specialist, Product Management, SME Segment

Role Overview
We’re seeking a Specialist, Product Manager to join Mastercard’s Europe SME Segment team. This role focuses on developing differentiated value propositions for specific SME profiles — including mid-market businesses and affluent entrepreneurs.
You’ll identify new opportunities for Mastercard to lead in the SME space by uncovering unmet needs and translating insights into commercially viable customer value propositions (CVPs). You’ll also support the product team with operational tasks to ensure smooth execution of initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Opportunity Mapping
• Develop a deep understanding of SME sub-segments, their challenges, goals, and purchasing behaviour.
• Identify areas where Mastercard can stand out and lead within the SME ecosystem.
• Analyse competitors, spot market gaps, and assess potential opportunities.
• Use research, data, and stakeholder engagement to uncover unmet needs and innovation opportunities.
Customer Value Proposition Design
• Convert insights into compelling CVPs tailored to SME segments.
• Define strategic “jobs to be done” beyond payments, addressing broader business needs.
• Collaborate with Product, Services, and Marketing teams to co-create standout propositions.
• Work with global and local teams to adapt CVPs to market-specific needs while maintaining strategic consistency.
Ecosystem Development
• Identify and onboard external partners to enhance Mastercard’s SME offerings.
• Manage strategic partnerships to ensure successful integration and delivery.
Storytelling & Advocacy
• Develop engaging narratives around Mastercard’s SME strategy and CVPs.
• Represent Mastercard at industry events, client meetings, and internal forums as an SME advocate.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical & Strategic Skills
• Proven product management experience, ideally in payments, financial services, or SME-focused sectors.
• Skilled in market sizing, opportunity analysis, and competitive research.
• Experience designing and launching CVPs from concept to execution.
• Familiarity with building partnerships and integrating third-party solutions.
Soft Skills & Competencies
• Storytelling: Ability to turn data and strategy into persuasive narratives.
• Customer-Centricity: Passion for solving customer problems.
• Collaboration: Strong stakeholder management across functions and cultures.
• Influence: Capable of inspiring and influencing without direct authority.
• Agility: Comfortable with ambiguity and shifting priorities.
Qualifications
• Demonstrated experience in product management, strategy, or SME-focused roles — ideally with exposure to the payments industry.
• Experience in global or regional roles is a plus.
