Specialist – Power BI
Job Introduction:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced PowerBI Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analysis, visualization, and reporting using the PowerBI platform. As a PowerBI Specialist, you will work closely with various departments to gather requirements, design, and develop data models, and create visually compelling and interactive reports and dashboards. You will play a key role in driving data insights, decision-making, and overall business performance.
Major Responsibilities:
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and understand business objectives for reporting and analytics.
Design and develop efficient and scalable data models to support reporting needs.
Utilize Power BI and Microsoft Fabric to transform raw data into meaningful insights, visually engaging reports, and interactive dashboards.
Clean, validate, and integrate data from multiple sources to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
Optimize data models, DAX measures, and reports for performance and usability.
Collaborate with IT and data teams to ensure proper data governance, security, and data quality standards.
Experience with Microsoft Fabric for building and managing analytics solutions.
Develop and maintain Microsoft Fabric components such as Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Dataflows Gen2, and Semantic Models.
Support the migration of Power BI solutions to the Microsoft Fabric platform.
Work with deployment pipelines, Git integration, and CI/CD processes for Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.
Collaborate with data engineering teams to integrate data from Azure Databricks and Microsoft Fabric.
Publish, deploy, and maintain Power BI reports and semantic models across Development, Test, and Production environments.
Train and support end users to effectively utilize Power BI tools and features.
Stay up to date with the latest Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and industry best practices.
Provide technical expertise and troubleshoot Power BI and Microsoft Fabric-related issues.
Evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies to enhance data analysis and reporting capabilities.
Implement and maintain Row-Level Security (RLS) and ensure secure access to reports and datasets.
Monitor Power BI Service performance, refresh history, and resolve refresh failures and service-related issues.
Troubleshoot Power BI Service issues related to report performance, dataset refreshes, gateways, and user access.
Support and continuously improve existing Power Apps and Power Automate solutions.
Write and optimize SQL queries to support reporting and analytics requirements.
Maintain a high degree of user focus, service orientation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Knowledge and Education:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Knowledge of Business Intelligence concepts and data visualization best practices.
Understanding of SQL, relational databases, and data warehousing concepts.
Knowledge of Power BI Service, Power Query, and DAX.
Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Power Automate, and Power Apps is an added advantage.
Work Experience:
5+ years of experience in Power BI development, designing and delivering interactive dashboards, reports, and business intelligence solutions.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong expertise in Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
Advanced DAX and Power Query (M Language).
SQL querying and database concepts.
Data modeling (Star Schema/Snowflake Schema).
ETL and data transformation.
Dashboard design and visualization best practices.
Report performance optimization.
Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric, Power Automate, and Power Apps is an added advantage.
