We are seeking a highly skilled Platform Engineer – Distributed Scheduling to design, support, optimize, and maintain enterprise scheduling and workload automation platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing distributed scheduling services, ensuring high availability, operational excellence, and automation of critical business processes using BMC Control-M and related workload automation technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and support enterprise Workload Automation and Scheduling Services.
- Manage and support BMC Control-M infrastructure across distributed environments.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve scheduling failures, job execution issues, and workflow dependencies.
- Implement and maintain scheduling standards, governance, and operational procedures.
- Design and optimize complex job workflows, calendars, triggers, and event-driven scheduling solutions.
- Ensure platform stability, scalability, security, and performance.
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, cloud, and operations teams to onboard new workloads.
- Execute platform upgrades, patches, migrations, and disaster recovery testing.
- Develop automation scripts to improve scheduling operations and reduce manual effort.
- Support incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Perform root cause analysis for recurring scheduling issues and implement permanent fixes.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.
- Participate in on-call support and service continuity activities.
Required Skills & Experience
Distributed Scheduling & Workload Automation
- Strong experience supporting Distributed Scheduling Platforms.
- Hands-on expertise in Workload Automation and Scheduling Services.
- Advanced administration and support of BMC Control-M Scheduling Services.
- Experience managing job scheduling across Windows, Linux, and Unix environments.
- Knowledge of event-driven scheduling, dependencies, calendars, and workload orchestration.
- Experience supporting mission-critical batch processing environments.
Technical Skills
- Linux/Unix and Windows server administration.
- Scripting experience with Shell, Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
