About the Role

The Specialist, People & Workplace Ops is a foundational role for someone early in their career who wants broad exposure, meaningful responsibility, and the chance to learn how a growing business operates from the inside. You'll sit at the center of MEI's employee experience and help build the connective tissue that keeps people connected to one another and to MEI — all while getting direct exposure to talent acquisition, people operations, workplace operations, and executive support.

This is a highly visible, high-touch role. You'll be responsible not just for making the day-to-day run exceptionally well, but for anticipating needs, connecting dots, and finding smarter ways to work as MEI grows. It's a strong fit for someone who's equally comfortable executing the details and thinking beyond them — proactive, resourceful, and eager to build a foundation that opens doors to broader responsibilities at MEI over time.

NOTE: This is an in-person role based in our Tysons Corner office, with remote coordination supporting our Richmond and Charlottesville offices. This role will be expected to travel periodically for office and team support in VA and NYC.

What You’ll Own

Employee Experience & Talent Support

  • Build connection and community across MEI by planning and executing thoughtful virtual and in-person culture, recognition and employee engagement programs
  • Own candidate experience throughout the hiring process, supporting the hiring process on interview scheduling and applicant flow
  • Drive key components of the employee lifecycle, from onboarding through offboarding, identifying opportunities to make the experience more seamless, scalable, and effective
  • Partner with People Ops on research, data analysis, process improvements, and compliance programming; contribute to cross-functional projects and broader business priorities as opportunities arise
  • Tackle special projects and emerging needs, bringing structure to ambiguous problems and driving work through completion

 Operational Leadership Across Three Offices

  • Own on-the-ground office management for Tysons Corner HQ, coordinating remotely with Richmond and Charlottesville to keep all three offices running smoothly
  • Oversee supplies, vendor coordination, facilities, IT/office systems support, and building management relationships; serve as primary point of contact for office-related needs
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and scale office operations, improving processes and leveraging tools or automation where appropriate
  • Support meeting logistics (room scheduling, AV, catering) and coordinate office events for Tysons Corner

Executive Support

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to Tysons-based C-suite leaders, including calendar management, scheduling, meeting logistics
  • Bring sound judgment and discretion to every interaction as a trusted partner to senior leadership
  • Help expand how the leadership team leverages this support over time as trust builds
What Will Help You Succeed

(You don’t need to check every box, but here’s what will help you thrive.)

  • 1–3 years of experience in a fast-paced, high-accountability, cross-functional environment (people operations, recruiting coordination, project coordination, consulting, executive support, or another cross-functional role)
  • Exceptional judgement, discretion, and attention to detail - anticipates what needs attention, keeps things from falling through the cracks, and can be trusted with sensitive information
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and stakeholder management skills -  communicates clearly, thoughtfully, and proactively; builds trust across levels and functions, anticipates what stakeholders need to know, keeps the right people informed, and closes loops without prompting
  • Fluent in using AI and modern productivity tools to work smarter – thoughtfully uses technology to research, synthesize information, improve communications, streamline workflows, and automate repetitive work, while applying sound judgment around accuracy, confidentiality, and when human involvement matters
  • Intellectually curious, resourceful, and quick to learn – asks thoughtful questions, seeks to understand “the why,” and can take an ambiguous ask, figure out what needs to happen and drive it forward
  • Thrives in a fast-moving environment with competing priorities – context-switches effectively, juggles multiple workstreams, and moves fluidly between detailed execution and the bigger picture without sacrificing follow-through
  • Strong interpersonal instincts, reads people well and takes pride in handling every interaction with care
  • Motivated by breadth and growth, energized by learning across functions, understanding how the business works, and taking on new challenges and responsibilities over time
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with systems such as Greenhouse and Lattice a plus
