As a Specialist - Ore Reserves, you will develop and optimise Ore Reserves through the Life of Asset Planning (LoAP) process, ensuring reserve strategies maximise value extraction from mining plans for the benefit of all stakeholders. Working closely with Group Mining and multidisciplinary technical teams, you will support the delivery of robust, compliant Ore Reserve declarations, drive alignment with Resource Development Plans, and apply leading geoscience and mining practices to enhance value realisation across Anglo American's portfolio of assets.
Core Responsibilities (amongst others):
- Integrate and track cross functional initiatives that impact on reserve generation and LoAP
- Create Reserves for existing operations
- Prepare report of mine Reserves in compliance with relevant codes.
- Provide specialist support to a business or function as required.
- Develop and maintain systems to streamline Reserve process.
- Establish standard database, planning, scheduling and reporting systems for Reserves. Integrate data and financial modelling to enhance Reserve capability.
- Utilise scanning capability to keep up-to-date with technological advancements and relevant code updates to ensure health of discipline is industry leading and forward focused.
- Demonstrate behaviors in line with health, safety and environmental standards and with the Group’s values
- Participate in relevant safety audits, inspections and observations, and address issues as part of demonstrating safety leadership
- Expertise must have been obtained from a formal qualification in Mining Engineering, Mineral Economics or other relevant discipline
- Extensive background in mine design, planning, production scheduling and cost estimating.
- Completing studies including resource evaluations, feasibility studies, mine planning optimisations, financial analyses.
- Demonstrated ability in planning software (Comet, Deswick, Minesight, Cadsmine, Vulcan or Datamine)
- Demonstrated ability to understand the entire mining value chain and influence on reserve declaration
- Complexity of global mining company, social, political, environment and cultural influences and how to strategically manage the impact of external forces.
- Managing diverse multi-functional operational and technical teams.
- 5 years’ experience at a mid-management level in mine planning or survey within the organisation
- Advantageous experience in copper mining operations
