The Role

The Best Players Need the Best People.

Serves as media official for PGA TOUR Pathways (Korn Ferry Tour, PGA TOUR Americas, PGA TOUR University) serving as a liaison between players, agents, media, and partners. Assists in executing tournament and sponsor PR/media efforts, delivering key storylines, and managing sensitive topics under guidance. Builds trusted relationships with players and agents to facilitate media access and enhance the on-site media experience. Contributes to content development through unique insights and player access, helping uphold PGA TOUR standards in collaboration with Communications leadership. Approximately 20+ weeks of travel is expected for this position (PGA TOUR Americas, Korn Ferry Tour, PGA TOUR University), with international travel included.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field is required; a Masters degree is a plus
  • 4+ of experience in communications, public relations, or media relations. Prior experience in golf tournament communications or sports event management is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with the sports media landscape and event operations, particularly within golf.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to craft clear, engaging, and accurate content across various formats and platforms.
  • Comfortable pitching ideas and speaking publicly in both formal and informal settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by event schedules.
  • Proven capacity to communicate effectively across diverse teams and stakeholder groups, fostering strong working relationships and alignment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in high-pressure situations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and comfortable using digital publishing tools and content management systems.
  • Experienced in using social media platforms for real-time communications, brand storytelling, and audience engagement.
  • Maintains a polished and professional image, with a positive attitude and strong team-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to safely operate utility vehicles such as golf carts, utility carts, and shuttle carts, particularly in support of on-site tournament and media operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

  • Support the year-round promotion of players, tournaments and sponsors on PGA TOUR Americas, Korn Ferry Tour and PGA TOUR University, while also contributing to other Tours as needed.
  • Develop, manage and execute PR plans and strategies for 20+ events annually to ensure tournament and title sponsor goals are exceeded and elevated on an annual basis.
  • Build and maintain relationships with golf media to promote TOUR-wide storylines; pitch narratives in local markets and identify opportunities for player involvement.
  • Manage tournament field communications, including posting and updating field changes; notify senior leadership of notable player commitments or withdrawals.
  • Act as subject-matter expert on competitions and eligibility topics, providing media with accurate and timely information.
  • Collaborate with tournament media directors to enhance media operations and improve overall media experience.
  • Coordinate pre-tournament player media requests and agent outreach; manage all on-site and post-round media opportunities, including champion interviews.
  • Prepare players for media availability by reviewing sensitive topics and providing talking points; escalate notable comments to senior leadership.
  • Ensure media areas (Media Center, Flash Interview Area, etc.) meet TOUR standards.
  • Compile and distribute pre-tournament and post-round notes; fulfill media, tournament, and broadcast requests for statistics and information.
  • Work with broadcast teams to integrate relevant content and context into coverage.
  • Support PGA TOUR Content team with on-site opportunities and storytelling.
  • Lead on-site crisis communications and provide timely updates to senior management.
  • Contribute to special projects as needed.
