The Military Electronics Product Engineering Group is seeking an Electronics Product Engineering Lead to support Military Aircraft Group programs across New Product Introduction (NPI) and production phases. This role is responsible for supporting production assembly and test operations by resolving technical issues, maintaining product integrity, and influencing product cost throughout the product life cycle.

The position includes direct leadership responsibility for a small team of Product Engineers, providing day‑to‑day supervision, technical guidance, mentoring, and development. The Electronics Product Engineering Lead works collaboratively across engineering, manufacturing, and test functions while ensuring consistent execution, technical quality, and team performance.

This 1st-shift, onsite role in East Aurora, NY with competitive relocation support to help qualified candidates transition smoothly to the NY area.

As the Electronics, Product Engineering Lead you will:

  • Organize, allocate the resources of, and give technical direction to an engineering group to provide engineering support for production and selected development programs.

  • Select, appraise, train, develop, and motivate subordinate personnel toward greater individual competence and to achieve optimal department effectiveness.

  • Capability of converting a very general definition of department goals and objectives into well-defined tasks. The ability to simultaneously support and complete a large and varied list of tasks is a must.

  • Non-technical matters (e.g., performance appraisals, salaries, hiring, employee counseling) will be the sole responsibility of the incumbent.

  • Training, coordinating and evaluating the efforts of Product Engineers, Associate Product Engineers and Co-ops to support department goals

  • Perform direct product engineering functions in support of selected programs, such as:

    • Initiating clear production assembly/test instructions to operations personnel to maintain efficient production.  These instructions include formal Work Instructions, Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP / PAT), engineering memos, and Electronic Historical Record (EHR) entries

    • Assuring and maintaining product integrity, and quality in production products. This is done by assisting in Material Review Board (MRB) analysis and assisting in the evaluation for possible notice of escape (NOE) to customers.

    • Providing product engineering support as required to improve product quality through non-conformance reductions, first pass yield (FPY), etc.

    • Having a thorough understanding of all design principles associated with all products and supporting the facilitation of design changes by redlining drawings, attending Change Review Board (CRB) and starting the EO process.

    • Identify areas for producibility and quality improvements in production assembly/test and product design. Initiate these changes and plan for schedule impacts.

To be considered for the Electronics, Product Engineering Lead, here’s what you’ll typically need to bring with you:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) preferred, OR a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following related engineering disciplines: plus 7+ years of relevant technical experience

    • Aerospace Engineering

    • Biomedical / Bioengineering

    • Robotics Engineering

    • Mechatronics / Electromechanical Engineering

  • Minimum of 3+ years of demonstrated leadership experience

  • Technical expertise in electronics, top-level assemblies to the component level with strong foundation in circuit theory analysis. Demonstrated ability to stay current with the latest developments in the field.

  • Detailed working knowledge of electronics (or related technologies) assembly and test areas, including extensive interfacing with technicians

  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills

  • The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate an appropriate balance of strong engineering leadership and business acumen

  • Proven capabilities in managing and working collaboratively

  • Proven track record of sponsoring and leading change initiatives

  • Proven experience coordinating and interfacing with customers and/or suppliers on complex projects or issues.

  • Strong mentoring skills 

  • Proven general capabilities in areas of Root Cause / Corrective Action, LEAN, Project Planning, Product line transfer and Data Acquisition and Analysis.

  • The ability to travel, sometimes on short notice, to customers, contract manufacturers, suppliers, etc., to support the product line  - 10 – 15% of the year.

  • This job requires access to United States export-controlled information.

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $115,000.00–$145,000.00 Annually

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
