Specialist, Joining Technology

What you’ll do

Within the production environment, you will contribute to the manufacturing and testing of prototypes featuring the pioneering Scout design and functionalities. Additionally, you will play a decisive role in transferring the lessons learned to the later pre-series and series production line. In your role you will report to the Manager Tool Room, Measurement, and Joining Technology.

• Development of joining technology standards for Scout
• Design, planning, and operation of a joining technology laboratory to validate the joining techniques used in prototype build and subsequent series production
• Creating a data base of joining parameters for the respective vehicle models
• Carrying out welding quality analyses and assessments with derivation of measures to ensure consistent welding quality and robust processes
• Development of a set of inspection standards for the quality of the joints
• Ensuring communication and coordination between R&D, Product Planning, Quality Assurance, and Production
• Support of the areas in production regarding parameters and influencing factors relevant for achieving the required welding quality

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events daily. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, SC. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time. You will be required to be in the Novi, MI area frequently.

• 5+ years professional experience with expertise in manufacturing engineering, production planning, and/or project management
• Broad experience in the work in a Joining Technology Laboratory
• Deep knowledge of vehicle engineering processes and project planning software
• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in mechanical, electrical engineering, or equivalent
• Skillful at organizational navigation and cross-functional collaboration at all levels; ability to develop effective partnerships and relationships
• Creative and strategic problem solver who exercises sound judgement

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $95,000-$115,000
