Job Summary
This role provides regulatory guidance on a wide range of compliance issues – including specific issue expertise, regulatory trend impact and regulatory compliance. In addition to the expectations of Associate Manager (Expert), this role reflects a higher level of responsibility that emphasizes more direct customer interactions and internal technical decision-making.
The Specialist, Hazard Communication (HazCom) is responsible for hazard and transport classifications for documents including Safety Data Sheets, Labels, Dangerous Goods Transportation and Poison Center Notifications.
Responsibility:
- Hazard and Transport Classification of products using data obtained via industry associations, vendors, regulatory mandates and the IFF Toxicology team. Classifications are completed daily based on priority.
- Authoring of SDS and GHS labels. Initial authoring plus updates.
- Poison control notification (PCN) as required for products marketed in the EU or Korea.
- Providing customer support for inquires and specific document requests. These typically originate from the shared mailbox and are handled on a daily basis.
Requirements:
Essential:
- Bachelor’s Degree in scientific field
- 3-5 years’ experience in a technical position in a corporate environment
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
- 5 years’ experience in regulatory affairs
- Knowledge of SAP
- Knowledge of the WERCS
- Knowledge of Global Dangerous Goods regulations
- Knowledge of the Globally Harmonized System for Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS)
- Knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets
