What You Do
Will drive continuous improvement initiatives centered around electrical, mechanical, and wastewater equipment controls / automation and facility efficiency and reliability and as such, will help educate team members at all levels of the organization, and contractors, on the why and importance of such initiatives.
As a part of the above, and on an ongoing basis will also:
- Own and improve facility control systems (PLC, BMS, HMI, power monitoring)
- Troubleshoot complex, multi-platform controls issues
- Design, build, and program control panels for process control applications
- Lead major breakdown root cause analyses and kaizen activities
- Develop 5-year system roadmaps and reliability strategies
- Identify and execute energy efficiency and electrical distribution kaizen projects
- Review specifications, design criteria, and scopes of work for facility projects
- Lead system verification, commissioning, and startup activities
- Collaborate with Mazda and Toyota engineering and advisors
- Mentor team members and support technical capability development
- Support evaluation and implement maintenance cost reduction activity for assigned systems.
- Lead and manage maintenance including planned outages (if applicable) of assigned systems
- Ensure compliance and knowledge of regulatory items associated with assigned systems
- Lead spare part setups for assigned systems
- Support plant wide Energy Management Organization (EMO)
- Identify and evaluate facility electrical distribution equipment efficiency Kaizen projects and monitor & verify results
- Lead development of evaluation and analysis tools for use by shops to track energy reduction savings and implementation costs
- Be available to work outside of normal work schedule, including but not limited to weekends, holidays, shutdowns, and travel as needed (domestically and internationally)
What You Bring
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must possess effective communication skills (internal and external communications)
- Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen Bradley PLC’s or similar applications)
- Proficiency in BACnet protocol
- Proficiency in Networking (for equipment set-up and communications)
- Ability to troubleshoot high level controls issues across multiple platforms
- Network analysis experience
- Proficiency in Building Management Systems (Applications such as Trane, Delta Controls, Schneider Electric EcoStructure, or Siemens Desigo CC)
- Knowledge of Electrical and Electronic Power Monitoring Systems (Schneider PME- Power Monitoring Expert, Siemens ESG - environmental, social, and governance performance software or similar applications)
- Knowledge of various metering devices (Badger, Vega, Sierra, Endress Hauser, ION 9000)
- Proven Leadership Experience in managing teams, projects, or cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of HMI programming
- Ability to design, build, and program control panels for specific process control functions
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of Products
What Will Set You Apart
- Bachelor’s Degree in Controls, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering and/or a related field
- 5 years’ experience in Industrial Plant Facility Maintenance Engineering Function
- Experience coordinating Operations & Maintenance, Managing Cost Performance, Planning / Target-setting, technical knowledge of building, facility equipment and manufacturing processes
- Experience with direct supervision contractors and support personnel
- Project management experience
