A Brief Overview
Applies the specialized knowledge and technical skills of a radiology technologist in diagnostic and interventional procedures in the operating room areas. Performs these functions during regular working hours and on-call. Performs radiographic and other diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disease and injuries by performing the following duties.
Experience Qualifications

  • 2 years Diagnostic radiology experience. Preferred
  • Experience in a surgical area. Preferred
  • Previous operating room and/or interventional radiology experience. Preferred
  • Subspecialty experience. Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated acceptable knowledge level of all diagnostic radiology procedures. (Required proficiency)

Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Technologist - ARRT Required
  • Licensed Radiology Technologist (LRT) - KSBHA Kansas license required within 60 days of hire.
  • Basic Life Support - BLS Required within 90 days of hire.

What you will do

  • Utilizes correct image technique. Prepares and positions patient for diagnostic imaging procedures. Cones and pans well to minimize patient and staff exposure. Adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician.
  • Maintains scrubbing skills for all equipment and procedures. Anticipates physician needs. Sets up equipment and room for procedures. Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and makes minor repairs on radiologic equipment, arranging for repairs as needed.
  • Operates mobile radiologic equipment in operating room, emergency room, or at patient's bedside.
  • Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. Able to operate the Orbic Arcadis 3D C-Arm. Able to operate the AIRO Interoperative C-Arm. Demonstrates proper prepping, draping technique.
  • Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control. Prepares images for reading by radiologist or requesting physician.
  • Moves imaging equipment into specified position, determines exposure factors on basis of height, weight, portion of body involved, and degree of penetration required, and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy.
  • Participates in collection of data for departmental databases in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Documents patient or device complications appropriately.
  • Participates in on-call rotation to provide 24-hour availability for patients that require emergent imaging need.
  • Measures and mixes barium and contrast media.
  • Keeps rooms stocked with appropriate supplies.
  • Assists radiologist in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations.
  • Completes forms and maintains records, logs, and reports of work performed.
  • Performs office work including, but not limited to, answering phone, filing, obtaining information from computer, and ordering departmental supplies.
