The Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS), Space Weapons and Information Systems (SW&IS) is seeking a Space Vehicle Design Engineer (Experienced, Senior or Lead) in El Segundo, California.
Position Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to interpret requirements and develop conceptual spacecraft configurations and layouts using computer-aided design tools
- Support high-level systems engineering trades and analyses to balance spacecraft configurations to optimize performance, risk, schedule and cost
- Present work at design integration and campaign reviews
- Work with spacecraft architects to establish innovative solutions to spacecraft structure, propulsion, power, and payload systems to meet customer needs.
- Proactive problem-solver who thinks on their feet and adapts to sudden strategic changes
- Responsible for providing proposal content and products, including drawings, layouts, and 3-D models
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. A final U.S. Top Secret Clearance/SCI Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
- Level 3: typically, 5 or more years' related work experience
- Level 4: typically, 9 or more years' related work experience
- Level 5: typically, 14 or more years' related work experience
- 5+ years of experience developing 3D CAD models and drawings
- 5+ years of experience working with cross-functional or cross-organizational teams to develop and/or support space products
- Experience working within a fast-paced team environment which required strong communication skills to frequently interact with program leadership, internal and external customer representatives and development teams
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- 5+ years of experience using Creo CAD tools
- 5+ years of applied experience in developing and providing instruction of technical documentation for Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Experience with space platform structures or subsystems design and integration
- Experience with space deployable systems design and integration
- Experience supporting proposal activities, including hardware configuration development and costing
- TS/SCI level clearance
