Information Systems and Cyber Division (ISCD) staff couple the latest in information system technologies, such as elastic compute clouds, containerization, microservices, real-time operating systems, and visualization frameworks, with expertise in cyber security, software architecture, software engineering, data science, Artificial Intelligence, process improvement, and software development to deliver responsive, resilient, high-performance software intensive systems to our IC, DoD, and civilian customers.
Focusing on the applications of these technologies, the Command, Control, and Communications (C3) Engineering & Operations Department (CEOD) staff provide operationally-focused engineering solutions for space enterprise C3 systems, missions, and processes in support of these We provide operational C2 expertise for future systems; influence future electronic warfare, space data transport (SDT), command and control (C2), and missile warning investments; deliver systems engineering support for missions and C2 system development; lead system and software test planning and execution campaigns; support ground system and architecture improvement efforts; and, provide technical and operational experience with fielded space systems and real missions. Work Model
This is a full-time position based in Colorado Springs, CO, which requires 100% onsite work.
What You'll Be Doing
- Providing C2 planning and course of action (COA) development expertise in accordance with current Joint Warfighting Concept, Adaptive Planning and Joint Targeting processes
- Translating user needs into formal requirements for space capabilities to accomplish Combatant Command Operational Plans
- Working closely with SSC, SpOC, and STARCOM peers to refine operational CONOPS of space capabilities and relate them to substantiated performance measures
- Leading cross-functional teams focused on emerging space needs/capabilities such as "sustained space maneuver"
- Facilitating connectivity between Aerospace Engineering and Technology Group (ETG) "technical backplane" and SpOC, STARCOM, and space enterprise operations centers to communicate needs and results from both operational and technical perspectives
- Serving as a C2 subject matter expert on multi-disciplinary teams
- Working closely and effectively with internal and external partners in integrated product teams that include government, industry, FFRDC members, and collaboration across Aerospace
- Communicating effectively with customers and management through timely reporting of technical issues, analysis reports, and recommendations
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements for the Engineering Specialist
- Bachelors degree in STEM, applicable in engineering, mathematics, operations research, research methods, or technical science.
- 8 years of relevant career experience to include background as a space operator or analyst.
- Functional awareness/working knowledge of USSF warfighting capabilities, requirements, and operations.
- Experience working on concepts associated with sustained space maneuver (SSM), space mobility & logistics (SM&L), point to point (P2P)/rocket cargo, and associated dynamic space operations (DSO) capabilities.
- Experience with developing or managing joint requirements and related systems engineering processes.
- Experience with space systems in a joint warfighting environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Active Top Secret security clearance; eligible for SCI and SAP/SAR.
- Willing to travel approximately 20%.
- This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
In addition to the above, the minimum requirements for the Senior Engineering Specialist include:
- 12 years of experience of relevant career experience.
- Demonstrated blend of operational, technical, and leadership experience.
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
- Advanced degree in from a recognized institution in engineering, mathematics, operations research, research methods, or technical science.
- Experience with military utility analysis.
- Experience developing test plans and requirements verification processes.
- Deep technical experience with one or more specific USSF capability area, in particular, MW/OPIR, Combat Power, and/or space C2. Further experience in servicing mobility and logistics would be ideal.
- Experience and understanding of the USSF approach to warfighting.
- Weapons School graduate.
- Joint Planning experience with a Combatant Command J3/5 or Joint Staff J3/5
- Certified in agile, project management, or related field.
- Experience with the development of architecture level plans for space capabilities.
- Familiarity with agile, MBSE, digital engineering, or related discipline.
- Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI access and/or SAP/SAR access.

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
