The Enterprise Effects Division (EED) drives integration of Aerospace's strategic capabilities across the national space enterprise. The division leverages a broad array of engineering disciplines against a diverse and dynamic portfolio of programs, customers, and national challenges. EED spans the capability lifecycle from concept and architecture design to performance assessment to application of space and space-enabled capabilities.
The Space Control and Awareness Department (SCAD) is seeking a new team member to support mission analyses and operations. SCAD performs concept development, systems engineering, architecture analysis, algorithm development and evaluation support for national security space customers emphasizing Radar, Electro-Optical (EO) and Infrared (IR) sensors, orbit determination, command and control, missile warning/missile tracking (MW/MT) missions, electronic warfare (EW), space domain awareness (SDA), and space protection and security.
The Space Domain, Sensors, Space Control and Missile Warning Analyst (Engineering Specialist - Modeling & Simulation and Signal & Image Process Engineering) will provide project and technical leadership, analytical support, algorithm development, systems engineering and architecting, and modeling and simulation analysis for space surveillance systems, tactical command and control, space protection and space threat susceptibility, orbit determination, precision navigation and timing (PNT), missile warning and missile defense. Candidate will interact directly with government customers as well as Aerospace program office personnel in the Colorado Springs area and collaborate closely with Engineering and Technology Group (ETG) and program office personnel in El Segundo, CA, Chantilly, VA, and other locations.
Work Model: This is a 100% on-site position located in Colorado Springs, CO.
What You'll Be Doing

  • Provide technical expertise and leadership in the modeling and analysis of SDA and MW/MD sensors and systems and their broader system-of-systems architectures


  • Conduct a range of analysis using a framework of modeling, simulation and analysis capabilities including in-house, custom and commercially available/government provided modeling tools


  • Analyze electro-optical (EO), infrared (IR), radar and passive radio frequency sensor concepts, architectures, and algorithms


  • Missile and advanced threat (dim, highly maneuverable) target tracking and track custody


  • Sensor constellation performance analysis


  • Directly support the technical lead for a modeling and simulation effort for the Space Security and Defense Program by providing analysis, development support and guidance of early career engineers


  • Become proficient in the areas of SDA, Battle Management Command and Control (BMC2), space control, the space operations simulator


  • Provide independent assessments and lead studies with teams of analysts

Minimum Requirements

  • Advanced degree in mathematics, engineering, physics, computer science or equivalent, or a bachelor's degree with eight (8) years of applicable experience required


  • 8 years of experience in systems engineering analysis of space surveillance systems including system-of-systems architectures, mission performance assessment, and system evaluation and simulation.


  • Demonstrated experience within the BMC2, SDA, space control mission areas or MW/MT/MD mission areas


  • Experience in modeling, simulation, analysis, and/or algorithm development


  • Applicable skills in designing and building filtering algorithms for Orbit Determination and PNT operations.


  • Led development of computer tools and simulations to support analyses of interdisciplinary support teams and performing general systems engineering and integration support


  • Experience in at least one the following programming languages; Java, C++, Python, MATLAB, C, or FORTRAN.


  • Good interpersonal communication and briefing skills along with the ability to work independently and interact effectively with high-level government, Aerospace, and contractor personnel.


  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.


How you can stand out

  • Current TS/SCI clearance.


  • Background in command and control.


  • Experience with EO/IR sensors, especially for missile warning/missile defense


  • Operational experience as an orbit analyst, space control operator, battle manager in the air, maritime or missile domains (e.g. AWACS, AEGIS, GMD, HIMARS, etc.), or an Air Force weapons school graduate


  • Experience with or understanding of electronic warfare and/or passive RF collection modeling


  • Experience with space surveillance network sensor operations, or other SOSI network sensor operations


  • Fluency in agile software development using object-oriented languages such as C++ or Java

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
