This job is primarily responsible for performing all tasks dealing with extraction operations at a soybean processing location. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, monitoring assigned equipment, taking and analyzing samples, making process adjustments to maintain daily operating parameters and maintaining housekeeping and security.
In this job, you will:
- Fully participate in the company Safety, Food Safety, and Quality programs and attend daily pre-shift meetings.
- Perform all duties within compliance of OSHA, company safety, and environmental regulations (ISO where applicable); including wearing appropriate PPE for task being performed.
- Perform duties to monitor and make adjustments to process as needed to stay within daily operating parameters, communicates adjustments or reason(s) why daily parameters can't be met to Team Leader so they can communicate to upper management.
- Record adjustments, changes, and other issues in daily Extraction Logbook for other shifts to review and reviews daily Extraction Logbook from all previous shifts to stay abreast of current operations.
- Complete documentation timely, accurately and legibly; complete all daily log sheets to include readings outside of parameters or normal operations.
- Perform lab analysis on samples and record readings, report crush rate and sample results; work to meet required crush rate and sample results.
- Monitor processing equipment and report mechanical issues. Understand all operating procedures and emergency procedures.
- Understand non-GMO beans and run them through the plant without contaminating them with GMO beans.
- Actively involved with management in achieving a safe process by understanding Preventive Safety Management (PSM); review Management of Changes (MOC) and communicate any concerns to management.
- Other duties as assigned; including performing housekeeping in extraction area and may include working in any or all parts of the plant assisting with operations or maintenance when an imminent or urgent issue arises.

Required - High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
Required – None.
License/Certification
Required – Must be able to pass Extraction Qualifying Test.
Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) Revalidation; internal company training.

Physical Demands & Requirements
Ability to perform heavy lifting that includes up to 20 lbs. daily, 60 lbs. occasionally, and ask for assistance on anything over 60 lbs.
Ability to climb ladders or stairs repeatedly to significant elevation. At least 30 feet before a rest, and a total height of up to 120 feet.
Ability to be able to use a 300 pound rated ladder on regular basis.
Ability to wear required safety equipment.
Ability to work at elevated heights (100+ feet).
Ability to grasp and reach constantly/continuously.
Ability to understand and communicate verbally, in person and over two-way radio.
Ability to understand and communicate written instructions.
Ability to work outside in extreme weather conditions.
Ability to work the entire normally scheduled shift (including rotating shifts) and overtime when necessary.
Ability to work in confined spaces and around deep water.
Ability to work in an environment with high dust levels.
Ability to perform work in confined spaces and significant heights.
Ability to meet requirements of PFT and fit testing, when applicable.
Ability to meet requirement of and utilize all applicable PPE, when applicable.
Ability to work the entire normally scheduled shift (including rotating shifts) and overtime when necessary.
Ability to work extended hours, weekend, holidays and/or alternate shifts as needed.
The employee is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operates machines, such as lathes, drill presses, power saws, and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach; performs mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a non-repetitive nature, such as carpenter, technicians, service people, plumbers, painters, mechanics, etc.
Environmental Conditions
The work environment described here are meant to be representative of those an employee would normally encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.
The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment.
Travel, up to 5% travel may be required and may include off-site training.
