The Impact You’ll Be Contributing to Moloco:
The Strategic Sourcing Manager acts as a Strategic Advisor and Category Architect, serving as the critical bridge between our internal business units and the global supplier ecosystem. By deeply understanding our business partners' roadmaps and long-term objectives, you will partner with them to develop a category strategy to obtain their goals and drive innovation in a timely manner. Your mission is to move beyond transactional sourcing to build a category management framework where every spend area is managed as a strategic portfolio that fuels operational resilience and long-term business success.
The Opportunity:
The Strategic Sourcing Manager is a high-visibility role requiring a unique blend of strategic vision and tactical precision. You will strongly represent the Strategic Sourcing department in company meetings, interacting with cross-functional departments to define and strategically leverage spending.
In addition to traditional sourcing, you will partner with the Sr. Manager to build the overall strategic sourcing and procurement organization, with a focus on strategy development and efficient, scalable operations. You are expected to:
Strategic Leadership & Category Management
- Execute Category Strategy: Develop and implement multi-year category strategies and sourcing programs that align with business partner roadmaps and long-term objectives.
- Advise Business Leadership: Lead regular strategic meetings with department heads to consult on spending initiatives, supplier strategies, and market trends.
- Define Strategic Spend: Proactively connect with business leaders to define and leverage spending, ensuring a strategic focus on major high-visibility initiatives.
- Growth Mindset & Value Creation: Apply a continuous improvement lens to all processes, looking for innovative opportunities to maximize total value beyond simple cost metrics.
Execution & Operational Excellence
- Master Sourcing Initiatives: Lead the end-to-end sourcing lifecycle, including complex RFx processes, detailed category analysis, and impactful Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs).
- High-Value Negotiations: Direct the negotiation and execution of supplier contracts, masterfully balancing business deliverables, legal protections, and favorable commercial terms.
- Drive Data-Driven Insights: Create and review sophisticated analysis reports to identify spend trends, monitor category performance, and provide actionable recommendations.
- Supplier Relationship Management (SRM): Manage and optimize preferred supplier relationships, monitoring performance against service level agreements (SLAs) and analyzing total category spend.
- Project Orchestration: Lead complex, highly visible projects from inception to completion, demonstrating the ability to pivot seamlessly between strategic thinking and tactical execution.
Cross-Functional Influence
- Build Partnerships: Strongly represent the Strategic Sourcing organization in company-wide forums, using your expertise to influence stakeholders and drive consensus across cross-functional teams.
How Do I Know if the Role is Right For Me?
Basic Qualifications:
- Experience: 7–10+ years of professional experience in Indirect Strategic Sourcing or Category Management, preferably in a fast-paced, hi-tech environment.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead complex projects and a track record of partnering with senior management to build organizational capability.
- Domain Expertise: 6+ years experience in managing multiple category areas including Professional Services and Technology categories (SaaS, Managed Services, Consulting).
- Contractual Mastery: Demonstrated mastery to independently draft, redline, and negotiate complex Professional Services and Technology agreements, including MSAs and SOWs, ensuring business agility and risk protection..
Preferred Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in business, supply chain management or other related field.
- Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Senior Professional in Supply Management (SPSM) a plus.
- Knowledgeable in the competitive bidding and pricing
- Knowledgeable in ERP Systems, Zip preferred
- Familiarity with Sarbanes Oxley
Compensation & Benefits
U.S.-based employees have access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, and well-being benefits and perks. U.S.-based employees also receive up to 12 scheduled paid holidays per calendar year and one Thrive Day off per quarter. Additionally, all employees have Flexible Time Off (FTO).
The successful candidate may be eligible for a bonus and equity awards. Eligibility and amounts are determined by performance and the terms of the applicable plans.
The location for this role is listed above. For base pay range purposes, location-based compensation is grouped into the following regions. Your region is determined by your assigned work location.
- Region A: Menlo Park Office, New York Office, SF Bay Area, New York Metro Area
- Region B: Seattle Office, Seattle, Los Angeles/Orange County, San Diego, Austin, Boston, Washington DC Metro Area, Miami
- Region C: All other U.S. locations
