Essential Functions
- Proactively source components for current & future needs. Participate in DFM discussions for new custom components and conduct supplier request for quotes (RFQs) to negotiate the best price. Responsible categories include metals, optics, battery, hardware and others as assigned.
- Negotiate annual pricing with suppliers in category. Drive cost savings through strategic sourcing, supplier rationalization, VAVE, etc.
- Manage setup of supplier tooling and coordinate delivery of off-tool samples for engineering qualification builds. Develop and ramp component sources for new products
- Monitor supplier capacity and tool life. Proactively ensure suppliers have adequate capacity to meet demand.
- Enhance the category strategy by searching for new suppliers in the region that address gaps in supplier portfolio. Ensure alignment of category strategies to business requirements
- Be a point of escalation for engineering, purchasing and contract manufacturing teams to address issues with suppliers. Facilitate cross-cultural communication between Cognex and suppliers
- Facilitate periodic business reviews with key suppliers.
- Travel to suppliers regularly to progress ongoing open actions and manage supplier relationships.
- Execute the Purchase requirements in line with the Product Schedule requirements – SAP System driven requirements
- Develop and manage Purchasing strategies to ensure material availability inline with business needs
- Supervises department to ensure that goals and objectives are achieved
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to interpret drawings/specifications which can be translated to and matched with supplier capabilities.
- Good communication in English & Vietnamese. Mandarin would be a distinct bonus
- Familiarity with relevant categories at Cognex such as metals, optics, hardware, lights, lenses and cables
- Demonstrated skill in sourcing and delivering cost reductions through price negotiations.
- Good presentation skills, analytical and fact based with an attention to detail.
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, goal-oriented, and time-sensitive environment.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and working knowledge of business systems such as SAP
- Able to work in a team environment with flexible work conditions.
- Understand and negotiate vendor commits to meet requirements
- Knowledge of SAP an advantage
- Interpret ECOs, BOMs, Process Flows
Minimum Education and Work Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in either Engineering, Supply Chain, Materials Management or Business is preferred
- 10 years of work experience overall, of which 5+ years of Supply Chain / Sourcing related experience.
- 2+ years of people management experience
