The Brydon Group is a Washington D.C.-based private equity firm that partners with outstanding mid-career executives to acquire business-to-business (B2B), business-to-government (B2G), and healthcare software and services businesses. Brydon is currently investing out of its Fund III which closed in July 2025.

About the Role

As an Analyst at The Brydon Group you will play a key role in our firm's deal origination strategy, working closely with Managing Partners, the Director of Business Development, and CEOs-in-Residence (CIRs) to identify, qualify, and advance investment opportunities.

This role is focused on building and managing relationships with the bankers, brokers, M&A advisors, and other intermediaries who represent companies that may be a fit for Brydon’s investment strategy. You will help ensure Brydon is seeing the right opportunities, staying top-of-mind with the right deal sources, and developing a sharper understanding of which intermediaries consistently surface high-quality companies. You will be expected to uphold the highest values while consistently delivering impact in a fast-paced environment.

What Makes Someone Great in This Role

We are looking for candidates who show:

  • High ownership and consistent follow-through
  • Genuine interest in investing, business models, markets, and company-building
  • Curiosity about how private equity deals are sourced, marketed, evaluated, and won
  • Comfort building relationships with bankers, brokers, M&A advisors, and other intermediaries
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Commercial judgment and ability to separate signal from noise
  • Persistence without being robotic or overly scripted
  • Ability to synthesize market conversations into useful investment context
  • Strong organization and comfort managing multiple relationship workstreams at once
  • Interest in using CRM, data, AI, and workflow tools to make coverage more effective
  • Coachability, humility, and a desire to improve quickly
What You’ll DoIntermediary Coverage and Relationship Management

Responsibilities include:

  • Build and maintain lists of relevant intermediaries across Brydon’s target sectors and geographies
  • Support regular coverage of bankers, brokers, and M&A advisors
  • Help prepare for intermediary meetings by researching firms, contacts, recent transactions, and sector focus
  • Track relationship activity, meeting notes, follow-ups, and coverage status in HubSpot
  • Help identify which intermediary relationships are generating relevant opportunities and which may require deeper engagement
  • Support Brydon’s positioning as a credible, responsive, and thoughtful buyer in the intermediary community
Market and Deal Flow Intelligence
  • Review and synthesize incoming opportunities from intermediaries
  • Help identify patterns across sectors, deal types, valuation expectations, process quality, and seller motivations
  • Track which intermediaries are active in Brydon’s priority areas
  • Prepare concise summaries of relevant market observations for internal discussion
  • Help the team understand where attractive deal flow is emerging and where coverage may need to improve
  • Develop judgment around which opportunities warrant investment team attention
Deal and Process Support
  • Review teasers, CIMs, and other materials from intermediaries
  • Prepare short company summaries for internal review
  • Track deal flow, process status, deadlines, and next steps
  • Coordinate with investment professionals on opportunities that merit further evaluation
  • Help determine whether an opportunity fits Brydon’s sector focus, size parameters, and investment criteria
  • Maintain accurate records of opportunities and intermediary attribution in HubSpot
CRM, Data, and Coverage Infrastructure
  • Maintain accurate CRM records for intermediaries, contacts, meetings, opportunities, and follow-ups
  • Support quarterly coverage tracking across priority accounts
  • Help improve data quality across intermediary relationships and deal flow
  • Support reporting on coverage activity, relationship engagement, and deal attribution
  • Use tools such as HubSpot, AI-enabled research tools, company databases, and workflow automation to improve BD effectiveness
  • Help identify ways to make Brydon’s coverage process more systematic and scalable
Internal Team Support

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare concise notes and summaries from intermediary meetings
  • Help surface relevant market themes from repeated conversations
  • Support internal discussions about sector activity, intermediary quality, and opportunity prioritization
  • Help the team understand which relationships are becoming more productive over time
  • Contribute to a more disciplined, data-informed approach to intermediary coverage
What You’ll Learn

This role offers unusually broad exposure for an early-career professional who wants to understand how private equity opportunities reach investors.

You will learn how intermediated deal flow works, how bankers and brokers position companies, how buyers evaluate opportunities, how investment teams decide which processes to pursue, and how relationship coverage can influence access to high-quality deals.

You will also learn the less obvious parts of business development in private equity: how persistence compounds, how market conversations create proprietary context even when the deal itself is intermediated, how process quality varies by advisor, and how pattern recognition develops over hundreds of interactions.

We are open to a range of backgrounds. We care most about curiosity, judgment, ownership, communication ability, and willingness to do the work.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree with strong academic achievement
  • 1–2 years of professional experience, preferably in business development, private equity, investment banking, consulting, executive search, sales, market research, corporate development, or another commercially oriented role

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple relationships, follow-ups, and process timelines at once
  • Interest in business models, investing, software, healthcare services, business-to-government, or technology-enabled services
  • Familiarity with CRM systems, databases, or workflow tools is a plus
  • Exposure to financial analysis or valuation is helpful but not required
