Work Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

Hourly Rate: $39.00 to $49.00 commensurate with experience

​​​​​​​ Here is what you will need:

  • Education: Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program that is accredited by the Commission Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program.
  • Certificates: Active certification with ARDMS. Current compliance with CME requirements.
  • Professional Experience: Breast Ultrasound and Diagnostic Procedure experience preferred.

A Day in the Life of a Diagnostic Sonographer:

  • Produces high-quality ultrasound images and obtain appropriate measurements for each exam.
  • Maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and scanning technique.
  • Communicates with the radiologist and understands and performs any necessary additional exams.
  • Documents all applicable patient and procedure data consistently and correctly.
  • Explains procedures adequately to patients to maximize patient comfort and cooperation.
  • Appropriate monitoring during all phases of the procedure with special care taken to ensure patient emotional and physical well-being.
  • Assist and/or chaperones radiologist when they are performing ultrasound exams.
  • Assists radiologists during ultrasound biopsy procedures using appropriate sterile technique and universal precautions.
  • Communicates patient information in a professional and courteous manner to patients and to referring physicians’ offices as required.
  • Maintains the ultrasound equipment for cleanliness and ensures proper equipment maintenance and equipment safety.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with Radiologists and other Center staff members.

Skills Required

  • Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs
  • Active certification with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography
  • Current compliance with continuing medical education requirements
  • Breast ultrasound and diagnostic procedure experience
