The Role
Performs accurate diagnostic ultrasound imaging, interacts professionally with patients and medical staff, maintains ultrasound equipment, follows emergency and safety protocols, and uses independent judgment to assess results and solve problems. Requires graduation from an accredited medical sonography program, ARDMS registration or eligibility, RDMS and RVT registration within six months, and current CPR skills. Continuing education is required; specialized training or one year of ultrasound experience is preferred.

Performs high quality and accurate diagnostic ultrasound images. Interacts with patients, physicians, and staff in a professional and courteous manner. Maintains ultrasound equipment in optimum working condition. Applies knowledge of emergency protocols and procedures, and proper equipment utilization to maximize safety in the work environment. 

Schedule: Schedule: 1.0 FTE / 40 hrs weekly: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday day shifts, Thursday 11:30-8pm. 1 weekend every 12-14 weeks and 1 holiday a year.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:

    • Graduate from an accredited School of Medical Sonography or equivalent

    • Must be willing to participate in continuing education to remain current on technical advances as they occur. 

  • Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:

    • Must be registered or registry eligible by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). 

    • Registered in RDMS and RVT within 6 months of hire required. 

    • Must maintain current CPR skills.

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Must have a strong anatomy and physiology background. 

    • Ability to assess results, problem solve, and use independent judgment. 

    • Demonstrates knowledge of age-related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service and assure safety of patients.

    • Must have proven ability to operate the following safely and efficiently: Ultrasound equipment, Fax, Telephone, PC, Printer, and Photocopier.


 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:

    • Additional specialized training or at least one year of ultrasound experience preferred.
