About the Role
Epic IT is a Perth-based, AI-first MSP running production infrastructure for around 72 clients across cloud, networking, telephony, and security. We're hiring a Solutions Engineer to take architectural designs from our Solutions Architects and turn them into infrastructure real businesses depend on — not a helpdesk role, not a "follow the script" role. You'll own deployments end to end, from an Azure VNet to a switch stack in a comms room, and you'll be trusted to make the calls in between.
This role sits across several specialisms — Microsoft cloud, enterprise networking, voice, and security implementation — that don't often show up together in one person. If your strongest experience covers most of these and your fundamentals are solid across the rest, we want to hear from you. We're not expecting a perfect match on every line below.

What You'll Do
Cloud & Microsoft 365 — Deploy Azure infrastructure (VNets, NSGs, ExpressRoute, VPN Gateways, Azure Firewall) and Azure Virtual Desktop environments including host pools, FSLogix, and MSIX app attach. Configure M365 tenants — Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Intune MDM/MAM. Run tenant-to-tenant and Exchange Online migrations (cutover, staged, hybrid), and M365 security uplifts — MFA, Conditional Access, DLP, sensitivity labels, and the Defender suite.
Network & Voice — Deploy and configure enterprise switches, routers, and wireless access points on client sites. Design VLAN segmentation, inter-VLAN routing, and site-to-site and client VPNs. Deploy IP phone systems and migrate legacy PBX to VoIP/UCaaS — SIP trunks, call routing, IVR, call queues, and QoS troubleshooting for jitter, latency, and packet loss.
Security & Automation — Implement Essential 8 controls and endpoint protection (Defender for Endpoint, Intune compliance policies). Write PowerShell — not run it — for deployment automation, user provisioning, reporting, and migration tasks the team actually reuses.
Documentation & Delivery — Own runbooks, architecture diagrams, configuration baselines, and change logs for what you build. Document migration and rollback plans, and bring junior team members and clients up to speed on what you've implemented.
Technical Requirements
Core skills:
- 3–5 years hands-on experience in an MSP or similar environment with diverse technical implementations
- Proven Microsoft 365 administration and migration experience
- Strong networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, VPNs, firewall rules
- Hands-on deployment of network hardware — switches, routers, firewalls, APs
- Experience with VoIP/IP telephony systems, any platform
- Windows Server administration — Active Directory, Group Policy, file services, certificate services
- PowerShell scripting for automation — writing it, not just running it
- Experience with Azure services and Azure Virtual Desktop or a similar VDI platform
Nice to have:
- Microsoft certifications — AZ-104, SC-200
- Experience with tenant-to-tenant migration tools
- VoIP certifications — 3CX, Teams Voice Engineer
- Exposure to Essential 8, ISO 27001, or NIST CSF

What This Role Isn't
This isn't helpdesk or basic user support. You won't be fixing password resets or installing printer drivers. We don't micromanage — you'll need to self-direct and problem-solve. Not a "follow the script" role — you'll need to think critically. Not a pure remote role — occasional client site work is required.
