We are currently seeking a Solutions Engineer for our HMI Team who will resolve technology and font-related issues for customers.  Responsibilities include working with our product development team assisting with product design, modifications, enhancements, integration and testing. You will accompany sales professionals to customer sites to give product presentations and identify customer requirements. In addition, you will be responsible for troubleshooting complex problems on multiple embedded platforms.   

What you’ll be doing:

• Work with Sales team to educate customers about Monotype’s various software products 

• Provide first line support for helping customers integrate our software products into their environment 

• Provide troubleshooting support by duplicating customer environment and debugging 

• Investigate bug reports, troubleshoot, and work with development team to provide timely resolution 

• Gather customer requirements, document, and work with development team for implementation 

• Create or modify existing code to add features, fix bugs, and improve performance  

• Assist with localization of training materials 

• Work closely with customers during evaluation and development phases, to ensure that Monotype technology is ported successfully, and issues are fully resolve 

• Add value by liaising with Development teams to ensure that identified customer needs and suggestions are added to future product offerings  

What we’re looking for:

• BS in Computer Science or Engineering, and 2-5+ years relevant experience 

• Fluency in C, C++, and Python required, Java and web technologies are a plus 

• Basic knowledge of object-oriented programming, compiler or interpreter technologies, embedded systems, Linux systems and new/advanced programming languages 

• Experience porting code to diverse embedded platforms (e.g. ARM) and operating systems (e.g. Linux, Android, etc.) 

• Experience with graphics platforms such as Qt is a plus 

• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills 

• Native Japanese speaker and fluent in English (written and spoken), Korean also is a plus 

• Ability to clearly and precisely communicate technical information 

• General knowledge of fonts, font rendering, and text layout would be advantageous  

• Working knowledge of git 

• Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally 

• Team player who can also work autonomously
