Solution Software Development Engineer in Test (Solution SDET) (5-8 yrs)
We are seeking an experienced Solution Software Development Engineer in Test (Solution SDET) with over 5 years of expertise to join our eCommerce marketplace team. This role goes beyond traditional testing, focusing on building end-to-end automation solutions and solving complex quality challenges across the platform. As a Solution SDET, you will design scalable testing solutions, optimize workflows, and ensure the seamless integration of multiple system components in a dynamic, high-traffic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Solution Design: Architect and implement comprehensive testing frameworks and solutions to validate the integration of APIs, microservices, web, and mobile applications.
- End-to-End Quality Ownership: Drive the quality strategy across systems, ensuring coverage for functional, performance, security, and scalability testing.
- Advanced Automation Development: Build and optimize complex test automation frameworks for highly scalable systems using modern tools and programming languages.
- Performance and Scalability: Design and execute performance testing strategies to ensure system reliability under peak loads.
- Cross-System Testing: Lead the testing efforts for complex integrations across ERP, inventory, payment gateways, and fulfillment systems.
- Data Validation: Develop robust data validation mechanisms for complex data workflows to ensure consistency across systems.
- CI/CD Integration: Establish advanced test pipelines with CI/CD tools for faster, more reliable delivery cycles.
- Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior SDETs, fostering best practices in automation and testing.
- Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams, including developers, architects, and product managers, to align on quality and delivery goals.
- Innovation: Stay ahead of industry trends and implement innovative testing methodologies and tools.
Qualifications
Technical Skills:
- Expertise in one or more programming languages, such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or C#.
- Advanced knowledge of automation frameworks, such as Selenium, Appium, Cypress, or Playwright.
- Strong experience with API testing tools like Postman, REST Assured, or Karate.
- Hands-on experience with performance testing tools like JMeter, k6, or Gatling.
- Proficiency in integrating automation with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Deep understanding of microservices architecture, REST APIs, and asynchronous workflows.
- Experience with data validation frameworks and testing complex data pipelines.
Domain Expertise:
- 5+ years of experience in SDET or software quality engineering, preferably in an eCommerce or marketplace.
- Strong understanding of order management, payment systems, and inventory workflows.
- Exposure to ERP and other enterprise system integrations.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug complex issues.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to collaborate effectively across teams.
- A proactive and solution-oriented mindset with attention to detail.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience as an SDET, with demonstrated expertise in solution-oriented testing approaches.
