The Solution Release Manager is responsible for driving the delivery of high-impact technical programs and software releases in alignment with both business and technical objectives. In this role, you will act as the ultimate "air traffic controller" for our deployment lifecycle, bridging the gap between Engineering, Solution Management, Design, Operations, and Client Services. You will serve as the primary point of contact for release readiness, acting as a shield to protect engineering and product teams so they can stay focused on building the future of healthcare technology.
This position is based at WellSky’s World Headquarters in Overland Park, KS. We invite you to apply today and join us in shaping the future of healthcare!
Key Responsibilities
- Own and drive the end-to-end delivery of complex, cross-functional technical programs and software releases, managing everything from scoping and planning to execution and final General Availability (GA) delivery.
- Define, maintain, and manage the release calendar and schedule for all EMR updates, hotfixes, and major functionality rollouts.
- Partner with engineering, QA, DevOps, security, and solution management to establish clear, measurable "Go/No-Go" criteria and lead comprehensive readiness reviews.
- Serve as the primary triage point for all release-related inquiries across the organization, effectively protecting product and engineering teams from disruptive ad-hoc queries.
- Translate technical release manifests and updates into clear, impact-driven communications and internal release notes for stakeholder alignment (Sales, Account Management, Support).
- Partner with Customer Support, Professional Services, and Client Success to synthesize technical updates into actionable deployment playbooks, ensuring seamless rollouts to clients.
- Proactively identify, communicate, and resolve cross-functional dependencies, deployment risks, scheduling conflicts, and program blockers.
- Identify opportunities to optimize release and program management processes, tools, and methodologies to drive continuous operational improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 4–6 years of relevant work experience in a similar role such as a Release Manager, Technical Program/Project Manager, or Scrum Master in a complex, fast-paced software environment (SaaS, Enterprise, or EMR/healthcare technology preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
- Exceptional matrix management skills with a proven ability to drive accountability and alignment across diverse teams without direct authority.
- Solid understanding of Agile frameworks, version control concepts, CI/CD pipelines, and deep familiarity with project management tools like Jira and Confluence.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to bridge communication gaps, translating complex technical details for business teams and business requirements for developers with equal ease.
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems or highly regulated healthcare technology (HIPAA compliance, patient safety considerations, or HL7/FHIR workflows are a massive plus).
Job Expectations:
- Willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed to coordinate maintenance windows or release activities.
- Must work in accordance with applicable security policies and procedures to safeguard company and client information.
- Must be able to sit and view a computer screen for extended periods of time.
