About the role

The Technical Lead – Business Intelligence plays a pivotal role within AGL’s Data, Analytics and Reporting Services (DARS) team, which is responsible for delivering data-driven solutions that support key business processes including operations management, business performance analysis, customer insights, and machine learning initiatives. This role is central to ensuring that AGL’s Customer Markets Business has access to accurate, timely, and actionable reporting solutions.

Leading a resolute team of BI Developers, the Technical Lead provides strategic and direct leadership in the design, development, and delivery of business intelligence solutions. The role requires close collaboration across the organisation to guide data and analytics initiatives, drive innovation in reporting practices, and support informed decision-making through high-quality insights.

What you’ll be doing:

• Lead and Inspire: Develop and mentor a dynamic team of BI Developers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.

• Strategic BI Solutions: Architect and manage comprehensive BI solutions tailored to the needs of Customer Markets, ensuring they drive business success.

• Data Excellence: Champion best practices in data modelling and visualization, transforming raw data into actionable insights.

• Robust Governance: Implement and maintain stringent governance protocols across all reporting processes, from initial build to deployment and access management.

• Industry Insight: Stay at the forefront of business intelligence trends, continuously bringing fresh, innovative knowledge to the team.

• Innovative Edge: Propel the business intelligence space forward by integrating the latest tools and technologies, including AI, to unlock the full potential of our data assets.

About you:

• Demonstrated experience in developing end-to-end BI solutions, from project inception to stakeholder deployment.

• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft reporting technologies and data architectures, including Azure, Power BI (inc. Fabric) and Power Platforms.

• Previous leadership experience with proven ability to build, motivate and mentor high performance teams.

• Proficient in data modelling, visualization, data processing systems, and big data platforms

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging a variety of stakeholders.

• Well versed in data governance and quality control practices.
