ABOUT THE TEAM

Reporting to the Director, Total Fund Solutions, the Solution Designer acts as a technical lead and plays an important role by providing technical guidance within Total Fund Solutions. The Solution Designer is accountable for the quality, sustainability, maintainability, performance, security, supportability, and scalability of solution designs, with a particular focus on Web application solutions, Snowflake and Databricks data solutions, integrations, APIs, and AI-enabled capabilities.

In this capacity, the Solution Designer guides development teams, facilitates solution design decisions, and ensures that proposed and delivered solutions meet business, functional, non-functional, architecture, security, data, and operational requirements. The role works closely with business analysts, product owners, developers, architects, data teams, security, operations, and internal partners in an Agile delivery context. 

ABOUT YOUR ROLE 

                                                                                                                                        

As a Solution Designer, Total Fund Solutions, you’ll:  

  • Design end-to-end technology solutions, including Web applications, Snowflake and Databricks data solutions, integrations, APIs, and AI-enabled or agentic AI capabilities, ensuring alignment with business needs and PSP architecture principles

  • Evaluate functional and non-functional requirements, including security, resiliency, performance, scalability, maintainability, supportability, data quality, integration impacts, and operational considerations

  • Plan, architect, document, and maintain solution designs, including dependencies, integration points, technical decisions, risks, assumptions, implementation considerations, and alignment with guiding principles

  • Provide technical guidance to delivery teams by facilitating design sessions, technical decision-making, and alignment between business analysts, developers, architects, data teams, security, operations, and other stakeholders

  • Actively support implementation and problem resolution, ensuring that delivered solutions remain aligned with the approved design and that issues are analyzed, resolved, and followed through effectively

  • Research, assess, and experiment with emerging technologies, tools, design patterns, and market capabilities, including Proofs of Concept, and make recommendations based on benefits, risks, costs, and fit with PSP’s technology landscape

  • Ensure solution designs comply with PSP’s SDLC, architecture standards, security requirements, data governance practices, operational support expectations, solution review processes, and applicable controls

WHAT YOU’LL NEED 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Five to seven (5–7) years of experience designing, developing, and delivering enterprise technology solutions, including software development, solution architecture, and system integration

  • Hands-on experience designing and delivering web applications, APIs, integrations, cloud-native solutions, and data platforms, including Snowflake or comparable cloud data technologies

  • Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile delivery methodologies, architecture principles, design patterns, and software engineering best practices across the full software development lifecycle

  • Ability to translate functional and non-functional requirements into scalable, secure, resilient, maintainable, and supportable technology solutions

  • Experience leveraging AI-enabled technologies, including generative AI and agentic AI tools, to enhance software development, solution design, automation, productivity, and quality outcomes

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence decision-making and effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and business audiences

  • Knowledge of investment management, portfolio construction, performance and risk measurement or related financial services domains, with an understanding of technology delivery and application development practices in an Agile environment

  • Bilingualism: English and French (frequent interactions in English with PSP employees based in our offices in Hong Kong, London and New York, and interactions in French with employees in our local offices in Montreal and Ottawa)
