Java Solution Architect

Solvd is hiring a Solution Architect to support a global e-commerce leader modernizing its customer support platform with Agentic AI. In this hookup role, you will lead discovery and presales while shaping a scalable, low-latency foundation that improves case resolution, boosts CSAT, and delivers a more consistent support experience across channels.

About the project

Our client is a global e-commerce leader operating a large-scale, service-oriented technology estate with complex cloud infrastructure. They are modernizing their customer support technology stack by introducing Agentic AI to streamline case workflow resolution, implementing an integrated platform to replace a fragmented set of tools currently used by support agents and rebuilding case management platform.

The goal is to deliver a more personalized and satisfying support experience to end users — improving CSAT, reducing resolution time and enhancing service quality across all channels.

Our team is building a data retrieval and operations platform that powers the agentic layer. The platform provides a set of MCP tools via GraphQL interface that unifies access to multiple downstream services, enabling data aggregation and low-latency needed to support AI-driven workflows.

This role focuses on designing, building, and optimizing this platform to ensure low latency, scalability, extensibility and reliability. The initiative is multi-team and highly collaborative, requiring close coordination with other delivery teams, adherence to high engineering standards and strong architectural alignment.

What you'll do

• System architecture and design
  Design system architecture: produce architecture diagrams (C4 and related views), define system boundaries and integration patterns, perform and document technical tradeoff analysis, and maintain Architecture Decision Records (ADRs). Ensure architecture supports scalability, performance, reliability and long-term maintainability.

• Hands-on technical leadership
  Guide implementation by working closely with engineering teams on design reviews, critical code paths, prototyping and architectural spikes. Act as a technical authority for system structure, APIs and integration strategy.

• Technology advocacy
  Share knowledge through presentations, workshops, and written communication. Help teams understand the value of modern technologies by translating complex concepts into practical guidance.

• Cross-team collaboration
  Work closely with engineers, architects and delivery teams to translate business and technical requirements into scalable, maintainable systems. Drive alignment across teams and ensure architectural consistency.

• Leadership and communication
  Lead technical discussions, guide teams and set architectural direction with clarity and confidence. Foster open, constructive conversations, especially when navigating uncertainty.

What you bring

• 12+ years in software engineering with at least 4 years of experience playing a role of solution architect

• Hands-on development experience across multiple stacks and solution types

• Strong expertise in the Java ecosystem (primary stack)

• Experience with React and TypeScript as a secondary stack

• Experience with event-driven architectures and streaming platforms (specifically Kafka)

• Strong understanding of core concepts of enterprise architecture

• Experience designing and documenting large-scale distributed systems

• Proven ability to produce architecture documentation, diagrams and ADRs

• Ability to work closely with business stakeholders to define requirements and solution scenarios

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; results-oriented mindset

• Excellent conceptual visualization skills

• Travel readiness (US)

• English level B2+

Nice to have

• Exposure to agentic AI systems and AI-driven architectures is a strong advantage

• Experience working in customer support / service operations domain is a strong advantage

• Experience in presales and early solution discovery and shaping

• Experience working within enterprise environments

• Cloud architect certification (AWS or Azure relevant)

• Experience with on-prem or proprietary cloud platforms
