With a robust multi year roadmap IDEXX has invested heavily to scale fit-for-purpose architecture for our Veterniary Software portfolio. Our Architecture Practice is seeking an experienced Solution Architect to join the team based here in our Auckland R&D center of excellence.
Our mission is building a world first SaaS vertical for animal health, integrating our portfolio of products to work together as one ecosystem. We’re transitioning individual products into an enterprise scale scale offering. Our portfolio ranges in maturity but in some instances legacy architecture needs modernising to operate at enterprise scale with safety and responsiveness that customers will expect. Our architecture, design and engineering practices need modernising, scaling and predictability built-in so we're able to integrate and scale as one. Gnarly challenge indeed!

Where you’ll play!
- Work with product teams to determine the technical requirements for features on the application roadmap
- Contribute to and lead the creation of technical features for the application roadmap
- Provide design recommendations based on long-term organisation strategy
- Align architecture with overall Company application architecture standards to ensure smooth and efficient operation
- Determine specifications and plans, designs and develop application solutions, utilising appropriate software processes
- Create architecture and development standards
- Participate in development of new product requirements, features and design
- Researches and maintains knowledge in emerging technologies and possible applications to the business
- Act as internal consultant, advocate, mentor and change agent.
- Production of documentation to assist in planning for the future of the product
- Documenting architectural decisions (reasoning).
What you’ll need:
- Seasoned software engineering expertise, familiar with PHP, Go-Lang, Typescript, Python, SQL etc. Importantly, you are hands on with regards to architecture design
- Proven expertise with SaaS software architecture at scale and AWS experience/qualifications will help
- Sound understanding of business requirements and translating these into conceptual, logical, and physical models
- Genuine collaboration, capable of strategising an approach to a problem that inspires/influences others to buy-in
- Highly effective technical coach and mentor for engineering teams
- Familiarity with multiple web and cloud technologies and an unbiased scientific approach to technology selection
