  • Translate design concepts, sketches, architectural details, and project requirements into practical and manufacturable solutions.
  • Develop designs that support efficient fabrication, assembly, and installation while maintaining quality and design intent.
  • Collaborate closely with project management, estimating, operations, and production teams to ensure designs are aligned with project scope, schedule, and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Review drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and specifications for completeness, accuracy, and constructability.
  • Revise and update drawings based on internal reviews, project changes, field conditions, and customer requirements.
  • Support the development of standardized design practices, drawing controls, and manufacturing efficiencies.
  • Proactively identify design conflicts, production concerns, and constructability issues early in the process and recommend practical solutions.
  • Prepare bills of materials, part details, cut lists, and other supporting documentation for production.
  • Ensure all design deliverables are completed on time and meet ELRO Manufacturing quality standards.

Participate in design review meetings and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree, relevant technical certification, or comparable industry experience in Drafting, Design, Engineering Technology, Industrial Design, or a related field preferred. We value practical experience and technical expertise that support strong design capability and real-world application.
  • Familiarity creating fabrication/shop drawings and production-ready documentation.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, tolerances, and assembly methods.
  • Experience in metal fabrication, architectural components, construction-related manufacturing, or custom fabrication environments preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, engineering plans, and technical specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think both creatively and strategically.
  • High attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in other drafting/design software, such as AutoCAD, is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong design visualization and technical drafting ability.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to develop innovative but practical solutions.
  • Strategic thinking with an understanding of how design decisions impact fabrication, timelines, cost, and project execution.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across departments.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a team.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability for design quality and accuracy.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and process improvement.

What Success Looks Like in This Role

  • Designs are accurate, complete, and ready for fabrication.
  • Drawings support smooth production flow and minimize rework.
  • Design decisions improve efficiency, quality, and constructability.
  • Cross-functional teams can rely on clear, timely, and well-coordinated design deliverables.
  • The designer contributes both technical skill and strategic value to the success of projects and operations.

Why Join ELRO Manufacturing
