As a Solid-State Drive (SSD) Failure Analysis (FA) Engineer specializing in SSDs at Micron Technology, Inc., you will play a major role in ensuring the highest quality and reliability the SSD products. In this dynamic position, you will perform failure analysis on automotive-class SSD customer returned materials, drive continuous improvement, and collaborate with multi-functional teams from Product and System Engineering, Business Teams, and Customer-Facing Teams to improve product performance and customer satisfaction. Your expertise will be instrumental in identifying root causes, providing 8D/FA reports, facilitating corrective actions, and shaping the future of our SSD technology.

You will also work with a team of technical engineers and technicians, focusing on SSD product quality and warranty process. You will summarize analysis at the electrical and physical level identifying root cause and you will also involve in resolving customers critical issue and provide the problem-solving team with failure analysis results and/or recommendation for failure analysis plan. You will be required to administrate the communication of results to functional areas and sustain knowledge of drive characteristics. Additionally, you will act as the primary SSD interface for external customer-facing teams, providing data analysis and consultation as needed. Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive Electrical & Mechanical Verification FA on SSD customer returns, providing in-depth analysis and actionable insights.
  • Generate detailed FA reports for external customers, ensuring accuracy and building trust.
  • Handle customer issues and effectively communicate RMA cases to internal teams, ensuring timely resolution and customer fulfillment.
  • Continuously develop and maintain knowledge of FA capabilities, staying ahead of industry trends and advancements.
  • Develop and sustain debug systems for Design of Experiments (DOE) and error replication, promoting innovation and boosting efficiency.
  • Main point of contact for SSD-related inquiries from external customer-facing teams, offering advice and support.
  • Assist in the development and presentation of periodic Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Pareto charts, emphasizing areas for improvement and success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering or an equivalent related field, such as Integrated Circuit Technology or Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI).
  • Proficiency in Failure Analysis or System Testing for SSDs.
  • Experience in the storage industry (including SSD, NAND Flash, UFS, eMMC), handling sophisticated technical issues and collaborating with customers will be an added advantage.
  • Strong understanding of SSD storage, functions, architecture, and NAND flash memory operation.
  • Proficiency in computer hardware and debug tools, such as PCIE, NVMe, SATA, Bus Tracer, Oscilloscope, and Logic Analyzer, is highly advantageous.
  • Excellent time and project management skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, capable of conveying detailed technical information clearly.
  • Ability to excel in a collaborative, close-knit team environment.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
  • Collaborative contributor with a proactive approach.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours to support customers from different regions.
  • Dedication to continuous technical growth.
  • Programming experience, such as Python, is a plus.
  • Travel for business purposes may be require for this role.
