The Opportunity

We are seeking a talented and commercially minded Solicitor to join Robert Bileckij's Funds M&A team in Sydney.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a lawyer looking to deepen their expertise in funds-related mergers and acquisitions, private capital transactions and structured investments (with a focus on real assets) while working alongside leading practitioners and high-profile clients.

What you’ll do

You will play a key role in advising clients on a broad range of transactions across the funds life cycle including capital raising, asset and platform M&A, formation of fund, club, joint venture and mandate structures and associated management arrangements.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and supporting the execution of transactions from inception to completion, including coordinating legal due diligence, negotiating unit and share sale agreements and running signing and completion processes.

  • Working closely with clients and our broader tax, duty, real estate and debt teams (including collaborating across our global network) to develop and implement a range of investment structures.

  • Drafting and negotiating the full spectrum of fund and structured investment documents, including unitholder and shareholder agreements, mandate agreements, trust deeds and related management agreements.

  • Assisting with capital raising for real asset funds including preparing information memoranda and due diligence committee materials.

  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships through responsive and high-quality legal service.

What you’ll bring

  • Admission to practice as a lawyer in Australia or New Zealand.

  • 2–5 years' post-qualification experience gained within a leading corporate legal team.

  • Experience in funds, private equity, corporate M&A and/or investment management transactions.

  • Strong technical understanding of investment structures and M&A processes.

  • Excellent drafting, negotiation and analytical skills.

  • Sound commercial judgment and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities.

  • The ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.

  • A collaborative approach and enthusiasm for working in high-performing, team-oriented environments.

  • An innovative mindset, curious about AI and emerging technologies.
