Software Test Engineer

This position is based in Uppsala, where Thermo Fisher develops, manufactures, and markets complete blood test systems to support the clinical diagnosis and monitoring of allergy, asthma and autoimmune diseases. With 1,900 employees worldwide, and 1,000 in Sweden, we are the global leader in in-vitro allergy testing and the European leader in autoimmunity diagnostics.

A day in the Life

As a Software Test engineer at Thermo Fisher, you will mainly work with planning, leading, performing and reporting software test activities during software product development. You will, for example:

  • Participate in the design, development, and implementation of new software products as well as the maintenance and improvement of existing software.

  • Responsible for coordinating the efforts of a team of product evaluation test engineers and scientists.

  • Work closely with global scrum teams to develop testing materials that ensure software products meet the specifications.

  • Build and follow Test Plans, and Test Cases, establish pass/fail test criteria, document issues, and perform final verification of defect resolutions.

  • Author test documents and status reports

  • Communicate status and issues to other functional teams and stake holders.

  • Evaluation and Acceptance of Requirements

  • Participate in project planning and progress tracking.

Education

  • Preferred education level: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related fields. Graduate degree is desirable.

Experience

  • At least 5 years of work experience preferred as a software test engineer or equivalent role.

  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle.

  • Experience from either software, hardware or system testing in a regulated environment.

  • Familiarity with medical/in-vitro-diagnostic equipment, associated software and common deployment models.

  • Extensive experience with automation testing and tools. UFT experience is a merit.

  • Ability to write automation scripts.

  • Experience in Requirement analysis, Test Design, Test Execution, and Defect tracking.

  • Experience with Agile and DevOps methodologies and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Certifications in software testing, such as ISTQB (International Software Testing Qualifications Board) is desired.

Work Environment

You will work from our office in Uppsala, Sweden with possibility for remote work in line with our policies.
