As a Software Test Engineer, you will work across the development lifecycle with software engineers, product owners and application experts to shape testable requirements, design and execute manual and automated tests, analyze results and drive issues through to resolution. Your work will directly support scientists and laboratories worldwide in gaining the answers and insights they need.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop, and execute manual and automated test campaigns to validate customer workflows across the Liquid Chromatography portfolio, Chromatography Data Systems, and related applications.
- Design and maintain functional, system, integration, workflow, regression, and performance test cases, along with the required test data, environments, and instrument configurations.
- Partner with R&D, Product Marketing, and application experts to define requirements, customer workflows, acceptance criteria, and effective test strategies.
- Analyze test results and defects, collaborate on root cause investigations, verify fixes, and drive issues through to resolution.
- Ensure traceability across requirements, risks, test cases, test results, and defects, while producing and maintaining Product Lifecycle documentation in line with Agilent quality standards.
- Leverage approved AI tools and automation frameworks to improve test effectiveness and productivity, while ensuring AI-generated outputs and AI-enabled features meet quality, compliance, and validation requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- University degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience with software testing and development processes, including manual test design and execution, defect management, requirements-based verification, and Agile development practices.
- Experience with or knowledge of liquid chromatography, chromatography data systems (CDS), laboratory workflows, or other complex software-hardware systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a passion for application testing, usability, and product quality.
- Fluent English and German communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to effectively use and critically evaluate AI-assisted productivity, development, or testing tools.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
- Experience in a life sciences, regulated, or quality-managed environment, including familiarity with applicable quality practices.
- Hands-on experience with test automation and quality tools such as Jenkins, Reqnroll, Selenium, Playwright, nUnit, MS Test, Jira, Git, or CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with Agilent LC/LC-MS instrumentation, OpenLab CDS, API testing, AI-enabled development workflows, or validation of AI-enabled software features.
