Position Overview:

Mastercam seeks a Software Test Engineer II to proactively design, develop, and implement methods for testing and troubleshooting Mastercam software and its components throughout the development life cycle, with a focus on automation.

As a member of Quality Control assigned to a scrum team or the Test Automation team, this role supports large-scale projects and drives them to completion in partnership with senior team members and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Documentation & Communication

  • Write clear, concise testing and engineering documents, including test protocols, procedures, and reports.
  • Communicate testing status to the Software Test Engineering Manager.

Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Quality Control colleagues to design testing methods, processes, and tools that support performance and stability standards.
  • Share subject-matter knowledge with other Software Test Engineers.

Automated Testing Development

  • Refactor and extend test automation frameworks and suites across multiple areas.
  • Build and maintain automation code, including unit tests, ATF, UI testing, and regression tests.
  • Conduct automation code reviews and recommend tools, technologies, process improvements, and best practices.
  • Analyze automated test results, logs, and reports and communicate improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain build systems that support regular deployment of automated tests.

Planning, Reviews & Improvement

  • Estimate task completion metrics and track and communicate verification and validation progress.
  • Develop testing metrics and reporting tools across multiple areas of expertise.
  • Review requirements and participate in architecture and design reviews with emphasis on automation strategy and coding standards.
  • Apply Agile testing principles and collaborate with Scrum teams on integration testing.
  • Participate in applicable professional, technical, and career development training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • ISTQB Test Automation Engineer or equivalent certification.
  • 4-5 years of relevant experience building commercial software or test frameworks using C# or C++.
  • Experience developing, maintaining, and running automated testing tools.
  • Advanced understanding of object-oriented development, SOLID principles, and loosely coupled systems.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum testing, source control, peer reviews, and unit testing.
  • Advanced experience automating manual processes and developing training processes.
  • Experience leveraging AI-enabled tools or automation to improve productivity and operational effectiveness, or a demonstrated ability to rapidly learn, evaluate, and apply such technologies at scale.

This role will focus on integrating an acquired company (to be acquired) to Mastercam per Sandvik's and Mastercam's program and processes - from a compliance and financial controls perspective.  

As the integration work will go down over time, the role is expected to take broader BA wide responsibilities e.g. under the common Sandvik compliance program (and also locally for the Hub and our other local business).
