As WMS/ WCS & Software Solutions Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing and supporting software-driven warehouse management systems (WMS/ WCS) within automated solutions.
You’ll collaborate across technical and commercial teams to deliver scalable, high-impact digital solutions that optimize material flow, fleet performance, and customer operations.
Liaising with sales colleagues to support on large scale project quotes, your input and skills are pivotal in a project’s success and delivery.
This role will be home-based & will require a high degree of autonomy and travel in the UK&I and occasional travel to EU for intercompany meetings. This will involve overstays from home as required during implementation phases and on-site meetings.We offer:

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the configuration, deployment, and support of WMS platforms, utilising KION WMS/ WCS and related modules.
  • Collaborate with sales, engineering, and customer teams to define software requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Integrate WMS with customer ERP systems and digital tools, ensuring seamless data exchange and operational visibility.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, training materials, and support guides for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support digital twin and simulation initiatives to visualise warehouse performance and identify optimisation opportunities.
  • Troubleshoot software issues and provide technical support during implementation and post-deployment phases.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies in intralogistics, automation and software integration. Be the product expert for WMS and software in UK&I.
  • Collaborate our intercompany teams to define and deliver improvements in our software and WMS offerings that allow us to lead by example.
  • Identify further opportunities to expand WMS and software with customers as an ongoing maintenance and review of site operations.
  • Accountable for delivery, implementation/execution of all software and WMS related elements for all projects.
  • Liaising with the Automation project manager, ensuring supplier costs are tracked, managed/monitored and time keeping is recorded through use of KION resource tracking tools.
  • Test and validate overall solutions and certify conformity of said solutions as part of remit/presentation to sales teams/customers.
  • Facilitate controlled demonstrations at the branded demo centres or on customer sites to promote and further push our technical offering.
  • Support on proof of concept (PoC) configuration of automated solutions involving WMS or software on customer operations.
  • Customer facing software SME, competent to present to customers overall solution (costs, deliverables etc).

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in WMS implementation, software integration or intralogistics automation.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations, fleet coordination, (mobile automation) as well „stationary automation“ (shuttle, stacker cranes etc.) and digital transformation.
  • Experience of Manual and Automated warehouse trucks.
  • Proficiency in software platforms such as SAP or similar logistics systems.
  • Familiarity with APIs, data mapping, and system architecture.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in VBA (Visual Basic for Applications)
  • Experience in SQL (Structured Query Language)
  • Experience in - C# fullstack development, .Net, SQL Server, MySQL, PostGres or similar
  • Good commercial awareness and business acumen.
  • Good IT, numeracy, and communication skills – both written and verbal with the ability to communicate to internal and external stakeholders.

Desirable Attributes

  • Experience with software tools (e.g, VNA Navigation Interface).
  • Knowledge of simulation, modelling or digital twin technologies.
  • Background in industrial automation, robotics or logistics software.
  • Agile mindset and proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience in Scripting languages such as Python or Powershell.
  • Experience in API integration (REST/SOAP) through ERP systems, IoT devices and or third-party logistics platforms.
  • Connectivity/interfacing skills (technology: SAP interface, OPC-UA, REST, TCP/IP, MQTT, Modbus… and format: JSON, HTML, XML)
  • Familiar with WMS (Warehouse Management Systems), ERP systems and control technologies (PLC, SCADA)
  • MEWP/ IPAF Qualification
  • Forklift license

  • WMS Implementation Success Rate: % of projects delivered on time, within scope and meeting functional requirements.
  • System Uptime & Stability: % uptime of deployed WMS solutions and integrations.
  • Bug Resolution Time: Average time to resolve software issues post-deployment.
  • API/Data Integration Accuracy: % of successful data exchanges between WMS and ERP/third-party systems without manual intervention.

Operational Efficiency & Impact

  • Order Fulfilment Accuracy: % of orders processed through WMS without errors.
  • Dock-to-Stock Time Reduction: Improvement in time from goods receipt to system availability.
  • Picking Efficiency Gains: % improvement in pick rate or reduction in picking errors post-WMS deployment.
  • Cycle Time Reduction: Decrease in time from order receipt to shipment.

Customer & Stakeholder Satisfaction

  • Client Satisfaction - Based on post-implementation feedback.
  • Internal Stakeholder Feedback: Feedback from cross function teams on solution usability and support.
  • Training Effectiveness: % of users successfully trained and certified on new systems.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Automation Coverage: % of manual processes replaced or enhanced by automation.
  • Change Request Turnaround: Average time to assess and implement approved system changes.
  • Adoption of New Features: % of new WMS features or modules successfully rolled out and adopted.
  • Additional revenue and upselling of software and WMS related products/services to projects as change requests.

Health & Safety and training

  • Health and Safety performance including zero accidents and lost time incidents during project execution.
  • Keeping up to date with relevant legislation, guidance and background research on technologies.
  • Impact assessments and overall breakdown of Risk assessment to customer as part of planning as part of implantation to avoid any undesirables scenarios.
