We are seeking a highly skilled and driven Software Solutions Manager to play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering cutting-edge solutions for our SME customers. Focused on addressing the unique needs of solepreneurs, micropreneurs, and SMEs, this role will develop and enhance tools for expense management, accounts payable, cash flow forecasting, and budgeting. As an individual contributor, you will collaborate across a diverse matrix of teams to ensure the successful delivery and ongoing improvement of these solutions.

Your success will be measured by your ability to matrix manage cross-functional teams across technology, (digital) product and operations ensuring seamless execution and excellence in delivery. You will be part of a broader Banking Solutions team and work closely with segment managers and software solutions owners in shaping the overall proposition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proposition Development:
    • Lead the end-to-end proposition development of innovative software tools for expense management, accounts payable, cash flow, and budgeting.
    • Work closely with product teams to translate customer insights into scalable, impactful solutions tailored to SME needs.
  • Matrix Management:
    • Collaborate effectively across technology, product and operations, to drive project delivery.
    • Ensure alignment of priorities and timelines across internal stakeholders to meet project milestones and business objectives.
  • Customer-Centric Innovation:
    • Engage with SME customers to understand their challenges and requirements, ensuring solutions are intuitive and valuable.
    • Continuously evaluate market trends and competitor offerings to maintain Starling Bank’s competitive edge.
  • Performance Monitoring:
    • Define success metrics for tools and monitor their adoption and effectiveness post-launch.
    • Leverage customer feedback and usage data to prioritise iterative improvements, working in an agile fashion.
  • Horizon Scanning:
    • Maintains a deep understanding of developments in digital product development, solutions and competitors.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in software or product development, ideally within banking, fintech, or SME-focused industries.
  • Strong understanding of the financial challenges that SMEs face and how digital solutions can address them.
  • Exceptional ability to work in a matrix environment, influencing and coordinating cross-functional teams.
  • Appreciation, albeit not necessarily deep knowledge, of compliance and risk considerations in financial services.
  • Analytical and strategic mindset with a data-driven approach to decision-making and prioritisation.
  • Outstanding communication skills, capable of engaging stakeholders at all levels.
  • Familiarity with agile or other iterative development methodologies.

Highly Desirable Experience:

  • Background in designing or delivering financial tools for SMEs or entrepreneurs.
  • Experience working within a high-growth, technology-driven environment.
  • Knowledge of API integrations and modern software design practices.
