Position Summary
The Software Quality Engineering Manager leads and develops a Software Quality Engineering team responsible for delivering high-quality, compliant, and reliable software products. This leader builds an inclusive, high-performing environment grounded in collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop Software QC and Test Engineering teams located in Santa Clara and Waldbronn, fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing organization.
Set team priorities, develop organizational capabilities, and allocate resources effectively to support business objectives.
Coach and mentor engineers and technical leaders, supporting career development and building the skills needed to meet evolving business, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Partner with software development, product management, and regulatory teams to define quality verification and validation strategies and integrate quality throughout the product lifecycle.
Oversee software testing, automation, risk management, and defect resolution to ensure products meet customer expectations, company standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Drive adoption of modern quality engineering practices, including test automation, shift-left quality, and continuous improvement.
Ensure project compliance with applicable QMS processes and regulatory requirements through effective verification, validation, traceability, and test evidence.
Champion quality and customer focus by leading strategic initiatives that improve product quality, operational effectiveness, and team performance.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Life Sciences, Analytical Chemistry, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent, plus directly relevant experience.
Typically a minimum of 1+ years formally or informally leading people, projects, and/or programs.
Experience leading software quality or software testing organizations supporting both manual and automated testing.
Strong knowledge of chromatography and mass spectrometry software ecosystems, including acquisition, instrument control, data processing, and workflow solutions.
Knowledge of regulated software development standards (ISO9001, FDA 21CFR Part 11, ALCOA+ data integrity principles) applicable to Agilent's laboratory software products.
Experience with modern software methodologies and engineering practices, including Agile/Scrum, CI/CD, Secure SDLC, continuous and risk-based testing.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams across engineering, product management, regulatory, and business functions.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical and regulatory requirements into practical business solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience managing third-party suppliers or outsourced development and testing partners.
Experience managing geographically distributed teams across multiple regions and time zones.
Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change, drive strategic initiatives, and deliver results in a fast-paced global environment.
Understanding of customer workflows in analytical laboratories and the quality, reliability, performance, and compliance requirements associated with LC and LC/MS acquisition software.

This job has a full time weekly schedule. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
