Project Engineer – Embedded Software Engineer
Create custom Forklift solutions
Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc. is looking for an experienced and talented embedded software engineer with a strong desire to work with our team in the Portland, Oregon area. This global development center designs materials handling solutions for the present and future. In this role you will work in coordination with other software development professionals, and other component teams, to develop and maintain software for new and current products.
This role will work on a small team of embedded software engineers, contributing personally with low level embedded software. Being a senior position, this role will lead by example, perform design and code reviews, and mentor more junior team members. Deliverables will support new product development and current product support, for design centers and manufacturing facilities globally.
Minimum Requirements
BS EE, CE, ECE or related discipline
3+ years software team leadership experience
7+ years of experience as an embedded software engineer or in a closely related field
Capable of making embedded software architecture decisions
Experienced C developer
Familiarity with model based development
Awareness of data communication systems such as CAN based networks
Preferred
MS EE, CE, ECE or related engineering discipline
Experience with Agile software development methodologies
Demonstrated ability to deliver software to the market
Experience working with multiple teams across various disciplines
Experience with industrial or automotive embedded software development
Essential Qualities
Deep expertise in low level embedded software.
High proficiency designing and developing embedded software.
Able to design, implement, and troubleshoot complex software and electrical systems.
Ability to work on all phases of development, from requirements analysis to validation.
Ability and willingness to operate industrial equipment (e.g. Fork Truck)
Driven to see tasks through to completion.
Innovative thinking, troubleshooting and problem solving.
Ability to follow established procedures.
Ability to improve and define procedures.
Occasional travel may be required (less than 10% total time).
