What you’ll achieve

As a Software Principal Engineer on the TDC solution team, you will own the technical direction and design of complex, multi‑component software systems supporting Dell’s AI and Solutions hyperconverged infrastructure platform.

You will work across teams to translate ambiguous product, system, and operational needs into clear, scalable engineering approaches, and leverage AI‑assisted development and analysis workflows to improve engineering efficiency, software quality, and long‑term system reliability—while maintaining a high bar for correctness, security, and maintainability.

You will:

• Technical Direction & System Design
  • Define and evolve technical designs and system architectures for large‑scope or cross‑team features.
  • Ensure designs balance scalability, performance, reliability, and long‑term maintainability.
• AI‑Assisted Engineering Practices
  • Leverage AI‑enabled tools and automation to support design exploration, implementation, debugging, and analysis.
  • Guide teams in the effective and responsible use of AI‑assisted tooling, reviewing and validating results for correctness and quality.
  • Maintain accountability for technical outcomes regardless of how tooling is used.
• Software Development & Quality
  • Design, develop, and review critical software components, APIs, and integrations.
  • Establish and reinforce engineering best practices for code quality, testing, and operational readiness.
• Problem Solving & System Reliability
  • Lead investigation of complex system or production issues across distributed components.
  • Drive root cause analysis and systemic improvements to prevent recurrence and improve platform stability.
• Cross‑Team Collaboration & Technical Leadership
  • Work closely with senior engineers, DevOps, and product management to align technical execution with business goals.
  • Mentor senior and junior engineers on system design, engineering judgment, and effective use of modern development tooling.
  • Influence technical decisions across teams without direct authority.

Essential Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience (8+ years).
• Strong hands‑on experience with Python and/or Golang on Unix/Linux/BSD operating systems.
• Deep understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, and system design principles.
• Proven experience owning technical design and delivery of large‑scale or complex software systems.
• Experience applying AI‑assisted or automated tooling to improve development productivity, debugging efficiency, or system analysis.
• Strong engineering judgment to evaluate correctness, quality, and long‑term maintainability of designs and implementations.
• Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware) and containerized platforms (Kubernetes, Rancher) is a strong plus.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).

Desirable Requirements

• Certifications: Relevant certifications, such as VMware VCP or AWS Certified Developer, are a plus

• Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Github CI/CD) is a plus
