Job Description SummaryAs the Software Platform Leader, you will get the unique opportunity to lead a functional engineering team developing technologies and innovative product solutions across the GE Vernova Grid Solution’s Critical Infrastructure Communication (CIC) business.
The Software Platform Leader is a management professional with a technical background and strong project management skills. This is a key leadership role within the company with responsibility to work with the engineering staff and CTO to deliver new products and sustain existing products sold by CIC business. In this role, the individual will be responsible for all aspects of Software engineering including New Product Development, Modification of Existing Designs, Sustaining Engineering, and Product Validation.

Job Description

As the Software Platform Leader, you will:

o    Oversee and manage all Software Engineering functions,

o    Analyze technology trends, human resource needs, and market demands to help organize and prioritize projects,

o    Estimate resource and material needs for the project/product,

o    Manage the Software lifecycle of products from concept through product release,

o    Collaborate with Operations teams to align on Software plans/schedules,

o    Provide progress reports for all projects and ensures timely and accurate reporting,

o    Effectively collaborate and communicate with others,

o    Rigorously adhere to engineering processes during all aspects of the design phase,

o    Mentor and train more junior engineering staff,

o    Maintain an excellent working knowledge of current and novel related technologies, including competitive and industry disruptive technologies,

o    Collaborate with Project Managers in leading and overseeing all new product development activities through the product development process, including Program Definition, Concept Development, Design, Validation, and Product introduction to manufacturing and launch,

o    Confer with engineering management, manufacturing sales, customer support, and marketing to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and manufacturability of new and existing products

o    Promote, identify, and implement opportunities for continuous improvement through constant assessment of employee and process effectiveness,

o    Participate and contribute to the strategic planning process by developing long and short-term objectives to achieve the company mission and vision, and

o    Interface with external customers as required to support company goals and objectives

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or related field

  • Minimum of 10 years of engineering or experience in a software product development environment

  • Minimum of 2 years managing large global project teams and/or mentoring junior engineers

Desired Characteristics:

o    Experience in leading product design & development efforts

o    Extensive experience with application Software development

o    Extensive experience with embedded Software development

o    Experience with Agile Product Development

o    Experience with JIRA or other lifecycle tools

o    Familiarity with electrical hardware development

o    Excellent design, analytical, and troubleshooting skills

o    Excellent knowledge of design methods, verification, and validation

o    Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

o    The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, etc. forms and move projects to completion

o    The ability to work with and without direct supervision

o    Excellent organizational, writing, and communication skills

o    Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks, and quickly adjust in a rapidly changing environment

o    Team player, customer advocate, and innovative problem solver

o    Experience with leading NPI programs

o    Experience with design for test and design for manufacturability techniques.

o    Experience in Root Cause Corrective Action process and techniques.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $119,200.00 and $198,600.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
