Software Modeling Engineer – Missile Defense Systems

Leidos is seeking a Software Modeling Engineer to support Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment (ITW/AA) and Missile Defense mission areas. This role plays a crucial part in trade studies, system engineering, model-based system engineering (MBSE), portfolio analysis, software development, and deployment. Our team is dedicated to data integration, fusion, analytics, visualization, and predictive tools to strengthen national security.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Class and Sequence Diagrams in UML following modular architecture patterns.
Develop and maintain mission-critical software for missile defense systems.
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to document and communicate software solutions.
Stay updated on state-of-the-art programming techniques and technologies.
Conduct software design and code reviews, ensuring high-quality product delivery.
Create software solutions using established industry standards.
Work with System Engineering teams to schedule and demonstrate capabilities for customers.
Coordinate with third-party contractors to resolve deployment delays and regression coding issues.
Redesign software components to support containerization and modular compliance.
Identify and assist in updating components to meet modularity standards.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline with 4+ years of experience. Additional related experience, training, and/or certifications may substitute degree requirements.
U.S. Citizenship; Currently possess an active DoD Secret Clearance.
Proven coding experience in C++ and Java.
Strong abilities in UML software modeling.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within engineering teams.
Experience with Agile software development processes.
Preferred:
Master’s degree in a related field.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Familiarity with micro-services development and containerization environment.
Experience in missile warning and missile defense systems.
Understanding of missile warning message types.

Pay Range:Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
