Position Overview

We are seeking a Software Integration Engineer to support the development, testing, and validation of advanced heavy-duty powertrain systems within a powertrain engineering laboratory. The laboratory supports conventional, electric, and fuel-cell powertrain technologies.

This role will focus on integrating test automation platforms, developing software tools and regression-testing applications, and maintaining laboratory databases and supporting infrastructure. The engineer will also contribute to regulatory testing activities, including EPA and CARB requirements.

Key areas of responsibility include test-system control, data acquisition, engine dynamometer environments, test-cell automation, fuel conditioning and measurement systems, emissions instrumentation, and combustion analysis platforms.

What You Will Do

You will join a powertrain data and software engineering team responsible for developing and supporting applications that improve test-cell operations, data collection, storage, analysis, and overall laboratory efficiency.

You will collaborate closely with engineers, technicians, laboratory personnel, and other stakeholders to identify technical needs, develop practical solutions, and continuously improve the reliability and effectiveness of laboratory systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement automated test procedures using laboratory test automation platforms.
  • Support, maintain, and enhance databases used for laboratory operations and test data management.
  • Integrate intelligent hardware and laboratory instrumentation using a variety of communication protocols.
  • Develop user interfaces and software applications that support test-cell operations and engineering workflows.
  • Diagnose and resolve software and hardware issues within engine and powertrain development test environments.
  • Document technical issues, corrective actions, and verified solutions using established troubleshooting and problem-solving practices.
  • Develop C# scripts, utilities, and applications that improve testing processes, data quality, data reduction, and engineering productivity.
  • Configure and operate PC-based test and measurement equipment, including CAN and vehicle-network analysis tools.
  • Utilize vendor-provided APIs to extend the functionality of laboratory equipment and create customized engineering solutions.
  • Develop and maintain automation protocols for performance, durability, and other powertrain testing applications.
  • Design, develop, and maintain SQL databases and web-based user interfaces using ASP.NET MVC.
  • Provide technical support and serve as a software interface between laboratory technicians, engineers, and test-planning teams.
  • Support regulatory and compliance-related testing activities within the powertrain laboratory.
  • Produce clear technical documentation describing software tools, automation capabilities, system requirements, and operating procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve laboratory efficiency, reliability, and cost effectiveness through software and automation.
  • Collaborate with internal users and stakeholders to understand technical challenges, prioritize requirements, and deliver sustainable solutions.
  • Contribute to the long-term development and stability of laboratory data and analytics systems.
Who You Are

You are a software-focused engineer with a strong interest in automation, data systems, and engineering applications. You enjoy solving complex technical problems and working collaboratively with engineers and technicians in a hands-on laboratory environment.

You are comfortable learning new technologies, integrating software with physical test equipment, and developing practical solutions that improve testing and data-driven engineering processes.

You bring a collaborative mindset and are willing to share knowledge, explore new approaches, and work with cross-functional teams to continuously improve laboratory capabilities.
