About the Team

The Messaging Platform team, part of the Digital Marketing Technology organization, builds the critical platforms our internal marketers use to engage with customers. We are responsible for the core tooling that powers communications across channels, integrating deeply with the Salesforce Platform, Data Cloud, and Marketing Cloud Next. This team is at the forefront of this mission, responsible for building the next generation of intelligent AI agents on Agentforce to drive massive productivity gains and unlock new marketing capabilities.

Role Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced senior engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be a hands-on contributor, responsible for driving the design, architecture, and implementation of our advanced AI agent platform. You will focus on building solutions that span the Salesforce Platform and Marketing Cloud Next, leveraging Agentforce, AI, RAG, and LLMs.

This role requires a quality-first mentality and a deep technical focus on building robust, reliable, and performant systems. We are looking for an engineer who not only shows deep expertise in the Salesforce Platform and Agentforce, but also acts as a constructive partner with product teams, asking deep clarifying questions to understand the 'why' behind their tasks. You will apply your advanced skills in distributed systems and software engineering to architect and build cutting-edge intelligent agent platforms that will create new tools for marketers, enabling them to deliver more relevant communications to our customers with less effort.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the technical design, development, and deployment of complex, end-to-end solutions on the Agentforce platform.

  • Architect, build, and maintain highly scalable, reliable, and performant distributed services that span the Salesforce Platform, Marketing Cloud Next, and our core AI systems.

  • Champion a quality-first mentality by setting technical standards for code quality, robust testing, and operational excellence.

  • Partner closely with Product Management, architects, and other senior engineers to translate complex business needs into robust, scalable technical solutions.

  • Drive the technical implementation and own key components of our advanced AI features, including RAG pipelines and agentic workflows.

  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers on the team through design reviews, code reviews, and technical guidance.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve the most complex technical issues across our full stack.

  • Actively research, evaluate, and evangelize new technologies and patterns in the AI and Salesforce ecosystems to drive innovation.

  • Ensure the team's services are operationally sound by designing for monitorability, reliability, and scale.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 6+ years of professional software development experience.

  • A related technical degree required.

  • Deep proficiency in one or more programming languages with Apex and NodeJS being preferred (e.g., Java, Python, C#)

  • Extensive experience designing, building, and operating highly scalable, reliable distributed systems within a platform-first environment.

  • Expert-level understanding of software engineering best practices, including code quality, automated testing (unit, integration), CI/CD, and monitoring.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a history of partnering effectively with product management and other engineers to understand the "why" behind requirements.

  • Deep technical expertise in the Salesforce Platform ecosystem.

  • Proven, hands-on experience with AI technologies, including LLMs and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Direct experience with Salesforce Platform development (e.g., Apex, Lightning Web Components, SOQL, Flow).

  • Direct experience working with Salesforce Data Cloud.

  • Practical experience architecting and building RAG pipelines in a production environment.

  • History working in the Marketing Messaging space including Email and/or SMS.
