Position Summary:

In this role you will be responsible for contributing to the technology landscape and driving the successful delivery of critical software initiatives. You will provide technical competencies as a member a team of software engineers and contribute your own coding expertise to complex projects. In this role, you will be a member of the Cigna Investment Management (CIM) IT organization and expected to continue to the culture of the organization.

Job Description & Responsibilities:

  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing environment.

  • Exhibit a willingness to dive into unfamiliar subject-matter to the degree necessary to provide meaningful insights.

  • Write clear, efficient, and well-documented code, adhering to best practices and coding standards.

  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members when asked.

  • Stay current with the latest technologies and trends in software development.

  • Identify and escalate opportunities for process improvement and automation.

  • Actively participate in the Agile ceremonies.

  • Accurately complete weekly timesheets.

  • Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks and issues.

  • Participate in knowledge sharing and technical presentations.

  • Ensure well documented articles are created and updated regularly.

  • Review and sign-off of technically based stories providing acceptance recommendations to the Product Owner.

  • Provide feedback to management on team performance.

  • Support, as required, any issues with the running of existing systems (Production Support) including abend resolution, data issues, scheduling, and other issues that may arise.

  • Demonstrates a clear ability to follow established coding standards and practices.

  • Contributes to a culture of ownership and accountability.

  • Adheres to assigned work while identifying opportunities for enhancement where appropriate.

Required Experience/ Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong research skills.

  • Strong time management skills.

  • Proven ability to interpret business requirements and translate them into code solutions.

  • Familiarity with agile methodology including SCRUM team leadership.  

  • Familiarity with test driven development.

  • Detail Oriented. Must be able to capture, track and follow up on details in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Outstanding English verbal proficiency and articulation.

  • Outstanding English written proficiency and articulation. Two writing samples will be collected.  

  • Multi-tasking and speed. All CIM members are expected to keep abreast of issues being fielded by the team and no two days will be the same. Versatility is key.  

  • Continuous learning and curiosity.

Experience, Education and Training:

  • 4+ years of experience working as a full stack developer.

  • Experience developing in SQL.

  • Experience developing in C# .NET.

  • Experience developing in jQuery/ Javascript.

  • Experience developing in Microsoft Visual Studio or VSCode.

  • Strong grasp of database design and optimization.

  • Experience working with a complex data model.

  • Strong grasp of object-oriented programming principles.

  • College degree (Bachelor) in related technical/business areas or equivalent work experience. 

Desired Experience:

  • Exposure to Oracle.

  • Experience with Entity Framework.

  • Experience with ASP.NET Web Forms.

  • Experience with MVC and Blazor design patterns.

  • Exposure to Windows scripting languages.

  • Experience unit-, regression-, and integration- testing code.

  • Exposure to AWS.

  • Experience with Python.

  • Exposure to investment management related data models, business processes, and software solutions.

Location & Hours of Work

Afternoon Shift (2:30 PM – 11:30 PM IST)

Occasional Night Shift (5:30 PM – 2:30 AM IST (Mar-Nov); 6:30 PM – 3:30 AM IST (Nov-Mar) / 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST/EDT

Hybrid – 3 days in office
