FanDuel is looking for an experienced Software Engineering Manager who employs a robust managerial toolbox to lead a team of Engineers delivering measurable business and customer impact in support of semi-annual and annual goals. You will be accountable for the customer experience, project prioritization, software quality, and system maintenance - but most importantly, for the experience, management, and development of the Engineers who report to you.

You will identify and tackle open-ended, ambiguous problems that often extend beyond your immediate team's scope, influencing outcomes across multiple teams through strategic planning, effective decision-making, and conflict resolution. You set the example for our values, create an environment of psychological safety where all team members feel included and heard, and empower engineers to take risks, make decisions, and learn from outcomes. You balance immediate results with long-term growth, retention, and team well-being, ensuring your team consistently delivers at a high level of impact for our business and customers.

  • Define and execute team strategy and roadmap in alignment with stakeholders, company-wide priorities, and customer needs
  • Identify new opportunities with the most customer, org, or company-wide impact and refocus efforts when results don't move the needle
  • Set team priorities, goals, and key metrics; run efficient operational cadences and hold your team accountable for progress
  • Make informed decisions by seeking diverse perspectives, leveraging customer insights, and optimizing for the overall organization
  • Work with Senior Engineers to deliver technical vision; provide quality feedback on designs and hold teams accountable for alignment to technical strategy
  • Proactively identify technology gaps and opportunities while mitigating risks; actively eliminate sources of toil to reduce production incidents
  • Foster career growth through coaching, mentoring, and internal mobility
  • Build deep cross-functional relationships, break down silos, and influence outcomes across multiple teams
  • Respond with urgency to operational issues, unblock your team by eliminating barriers, and ensure sustainable delivery of business impact

THE STATS
What we're looking for in our next teammate

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years in people management
  • Proven ability to identify and execute on opportunities with customer, org, or company-wide impact
  • Experience influencing outcomes across multiple teams and resolving conflicts with cross-functional partners
  • Strong track record of strategic planning and decision-making that balances multiple stakeholder needs
  • Demonstrated ability to create inclusive, psychologically safe team environments with a focus on growth and development
  • Experience managing through ambiguity and coaching teams through complexity and change
  • Hands-on experience with full-stack development (Java, Python, JavaScript, or Kotlin/Swift)
  • Proven track record managing teams through complete SDLC
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and software delivery best practices
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems and modern architectures
  • Experience establishing team metrics, KPIs, and operational cadences

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience defining team strategy and multi-quarter roadmaps aligned with company priorities
  • Experience managing senior individual contributors and guiding their career growth
  • Background managing teams through organizational change
  • Experience managing a high visibility team and prioritizing against product and support requirements
  • Experience in high-scale, consumer-facing applications
  • Background in gaming, sports betting, or fintech industries
  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field

The applicable salary range for this position is $149,000 - $195,300 USD, which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation. This role includes paid personal time off and 14 paid company holidays. FanDuel offers paid sick time in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
