About the role: As a Software Engineering Lead for Faculty Information System at Elsevier, you will play a crucial role in leading a team of talented engineers to deliver high-quality software solutions. You will be responsible for overseeing the development lifecycle, ensuring technical excellence, and driving innovation while maintaining alignment with business goals. Your leadership will be pivotal in fostering a collaborative and productive environment, mentoring team members, and contributing to the strategic direction of our technology.

Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership:

• Architecture and Design: Leading the design and architecture of software solutions, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability.
• Code Quality: Establishing and enforcing coding standards, conducting code reviews, and ensuring adherence to best practices.
• Problem-Solving: Providing technical guidance and resolving complex engineering challenges.

 Project Management:

• Planning: Collaborating with product managers and stakeholders to define project requirements, timelines, and deliverables.
• Execution: Overseeing the execution of projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with project goals.
• Risk Management: Identifying potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to address them proactively.

Process Improvement:

• Best Practices: Advocating for and implementing best practices in software development processes, including agile methodologies, CI/CD, and automated testing.
• Feedback Loop: Establishing and maintain feedback mechanisms to continuously improve development processes and team performance.

Strategic Vision:

• Technical Strategy: Contributing to the development of the company’s technical strategy and vision.
• Innovation: Staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, incorporating relevant innovations into the company’s technology stack.

Requirements.

• Experience mentoring and supporting team members, offering guidance on career development and technical skills. Creating a positive and productive team environment, promoting collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Experience managing team workload and allocating resources effectively to meet project deadlines.
• Have the ability and desire to develop in Ruby. Please do not apply without the Ruby/ROR development skill set.
• Have the ability and expertise in communicating project status, technical challenges, and solutions to stakeholders and upper management. Facilitating effective communication within the team, ensuring clarity and alignment on objectives and tasks.

The salary range provided in this posting is the base salary range for Washington DC.$127,400.00 - $212,300.00
