What You’ll Be Doing
- Set the technical direction and roadmap for our Microsoft Fabric platform, including layered (medallion) architecture, pipelines, and retiring legacy data marts
- Design how data flows from our applications into a governed warehouse, across many customers and multiple environments
- Act as the primary designer of our Power BI dashboards: data models, DAX measures, visual design, performance tuning, and governance (workspace structure, row level security, deployment pipelines)
- Lead our AI and automation efforts: spot manual work worth eliminating, prototype quickly, and bring new ideas to the team
- Shape our AI roadmap by designing data architecture (semantic layers, medallion structure) that supports the AI capabilities we want to build next
- Help design new, marketable data products and a lighter way of delivering reports that reduces ongoing maintenance
- Partner with DBA, DevOps, and application teams to design scalable, production-ready data solutions
- Bring a working understanding of SQL Server performance monitoring: how to interpret database logs, identify performance issues, and support high-availability, 24/7 production environments
- Design and maintain observability practices across the data platform, including semantic models, pipelines, warehouses, and SQL endpoints
- Evaluate and recommend tools, patterns, and standards as we mature from report development toward a broader data + AI platform strategy
What We’re Looking For
- Senior experience architecting cloud data platforms, preferably on Microsoft Fabric, or on a comparable platform such as Databricks and Synapse
- A prototyping mindset and out-of-the-box thinking: you test ideas fast, learn from what fails, and have turned an idea into something people used
- Practical curiosity about AI: you have prototyped something with LLMs, retrieval, or automation and can tell us what worked and what did not
- Experience designing data architectures (semantic layers, medallion structure) that are AI-ready; familiarity with Azure AI Foundry a plus
- Strong SQL skills and experience with data pipeline design/optimization, with working knowledge of SQL Server performance monitoring concepts
- Experience with medallion architecture and cloud data warehousing patterns
- Hands-on experience with Fabric Data pipelines or similar pipeline/orchestration tools
- Experience ingesting from relational sources, including change capture patterns
- Experience with API-based data integration
- Solid understanding of the broader Azure ecosystem and its data-related services: App Services, VMs, Blob Storage, Log Analytics, networking basics
- Python, Fabric notebooks/Spark, or exposure to MLflow/model registry concepts, and familiarity with Fabric's AI-adjacent capabilities
- General exposure to or interest in AI-adjacent data patterns, e.g., natural-language-to-data querying or general familiarity with how AI grounding over data works conceptually
- Working knowledge of PowerShell and/or Azure DevOps (ADO) dashboards/pipelines
What Will Make You Stand Out
- Familiarity with Power BI Embedded or similar embedding frameworks
- Hands-on experience with Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, or emerging analytics patterns (real-time/streaming, natural-language-to-data querying)
- Familiarity with RAG, vector/embeddings concepts, AI agents, or responsible AI/governance principles
- Experience with statistical analysis, forecasting, or health-related analytics, especially in partnership with data scientists or product teams
Skills Required
- Senior-level experience in data solution design including schema design, system integration, and scalability planning
- Hands-on Microsoft Fabric expertise
- Expert-level Power BI development, data modeling, and reporting standards
- Experience designing AI-ready data architectures (semantic layers, medallion structure)
- Strong SQL skills and data pipeline design/optimization
- Working knowledge of SQL Server performance monitoring concepts and 24/7 production support
- Hands-on experience with Fabric Data pipelines or similar pipeline/orchestration tools
- Experience with API-based data integration
- Understanding of Azure data ecosystem services (App Services, VMs, Blob Storage, Log Analytics) and networking basics
- Python, Fabric notebooks/Spark, or exposure to MLflow/model registry concepts
- Design and maintain observability practices using Azure Log Analytics and KQL
- Working knowledge of PowerShell and/or Azure DevOps dashboards/pipelines
- Familiarity with Power BI Embedded or similar embedding frameworks
- Hands-on experience with Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, or emerging analytics patterns (streaming, natural-language-to-data)
- Familiarity with RAG, vector/embeddings concepts, AI agents, or responsible AI/governance principles
- Experience with statistical analysis, forecasting, or health-related analytics
What We Do
