We are building the internal platform that brings computer vision models from research and prototyping into production and edge deployment on autonomous robots.
As an intern, you will work directly with the platform lead (system architect) on designing and implementing core infrastructure components. The system is defined through clear API contracts and architectural boundaries, enabling you to contribute meaningful production-grade components from day one. You will evaluate trade-offs in scalable, vendor‑neutral ML platforms, turn loosely defined research workflows into robust pipelines, and work effectively within clearly defined architectural boundaries.
This role combines hands-on engineering with exposure to real-world system design and architecture decisions.
Your Contributions
- Implement well-scoped platform components based on predefined API contracts
- Contribute to services for:
- dataset and artifact management (images, LiDAR, rosbags)
- model storage and execution (e.g. ONNX / TensorRT)
- evaluation and inference pipelines
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code (primarily Python / C++ backend services)
- Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, and technical workshops
- Help validate system behavior against defined interfaces and requirements
Your Profile
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field
- Strong programming skills (Python preferred; backend experience is a plus)
- Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals (APIs, data structures, testing)
- Interest in machine learning systems or computer vision (prior experience is a plus, not required)
- Comfortable working in a structured environment with clearly defined interfaces
- Curious and motivated to understand why systems are designed the way they are
Bonus Points
- Experience with Docker, REST APIs, or distributed systems
- Familiarity with ML tooling (PyTorch, ONNX, TensorRT, etc.)
- Exposure to data pipelines or backend infrastructure

Skills Required
- Pursuing an engineering or science degree (computer science, electrical engineering, or robotics)
- Strong programming skills in C++ and/or Python
- Familiarity with ROS2 and/or ROS1
- Familiarity with CMake, Git and Docker
- Independent, structured working style with willingness to learn
- Must be enrolled in a university
- Able to work 100% onsite in Zurich for the 6-month internship
- Experience working with large code bases
- Experience with robotic simulators and/or hardware
What We Do
ANYbotics is a Swiss robotics company pioneering the development of autonomous mobile robotics. Our walking robots move beyond conventional, purpose-built environments and solve customer problems in challenging infrastructure so far only accessible to humans. Founded in 2016 as a spin-off from the world-leading robotics labs at ETH Zurich. Join our highly talented and motivated team of more than 100 people and work on cutting-edge robot technology. Our customers include leading international energy, industrial processing, and construction companies. In 2020, ANYbotics raised CHF 20 m in a Series A financing round and won several prizes, including the Swiss Economic Forum 2020 award.
