About the role:

XOS has a great opportunity for a Software Engineering Intern who will help the efforts of our engineering team. In this role, you will assist us on a variety of projects relating to our analyzers. Our analyzers offer elemental analysis solutions that improve public safety and customer efficiency.

The candidate for this position should have an introductory knowledge of software engineering, programming, software testing, scrum, firmware, and software deployment. The candidate will engage in all phases of product development, including concept, documentation, design, prototype, test, and manufacturing introduction. This position will assist in resolving and improving product quality. You will have an excellent opportunity to collaborate closely with a small team, learning and developing Product Engineering skills.

This is a paid on-site position in East Greenbush, NY (near Albany, NY), remote or hybrid work is not available.

In this role, you will be:

• Supporting the Engineering Department and XOS in various tasks such as design, testing, prototype creation.
• Collaborating on projects and report the progress of assigned work.
• A Self-starter, who resolves issues towards on-time completion of projects.
• Someone who completes their work timeliness and accuracy

Are you qualified?  

• Ability to be mentored and follow a process through technical challenges.
• Well-developed time management and organization skills.
• Proactive demeanor, with a desire to drive continuous improvement.
• Creative, attentive to detail, curious, but fearless.
• Problem-solving skills with the ability to work towards root cause.
• Knowledge of some (but not all) of the following: software design and analysis, scrum, embedded systems, SQL language, Java, C++, Python, linux.

It would be great if you had :

• 2 years or more of Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or Applied Physics or a similar field.
• General knowledge of Linux or windows-based programs or similar.
• Class projects or other work experience in problem-solving and design solutions.

The salary range for this role is $23 -25. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
