About the Role
The Software Engineering Intern role is a great learning opportunity to build greenfield software used by internal engineers at Business Wire. Under the direction of your mentors, you will be responsible for building a standalone React application that will help enable our engineering team to better support our crown jewel applications. You will learn about the software development lifecycle process, CI/CD, observability, monitoring, and productionization. This project will expose you to core technologies as well as a variety of third party applications, APIs, and cloud solutions.
What You'll Do
- Work with mentors and team members to build a standalone React application to support health monitoring of our crown jewel application
- Learn to work within the Agile Scrum methodology
- Learn to conduct meaningful code reviews
- Work with cross-functional teams that include Site Reliability engineers and Quality Engineers
- Test and validate completed work under the guidance of your mentor
What You'll Need
- Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology fields
- Working knowledge of JavaScript and/or Typescript
- Experience or prior project work in any front-end framework such as React, Angular, or Vue
- Experience or project work in building APIs a plus
- Understanding of database concepts and SQL a plus
- Some knowledge of Cloud solutions such as AWS, Azure or GCP a plus
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Maintain a self-starter mindset
- Past work experience a plus
